President Bush granted pardons yesterday to carjackers, drug dealers, a moonshiner and a violator of election laws, but not to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, his vice president's former top aide, who was convicted in the case of the leaked identity of a CIA operative.

After the November 2008 election or over this New Year

he's saving Karl Rove and Scooter for last.

Maybe Scooter Bear will give up Uncle Dick now?

he's saving Karl Rove and Scooter for last.

Damn Straight.

Scooter: I beg your pardon! You made a promise in the Rose Garden!

If impeachment proceedings go forward watch the pardon fer Scoots be announced PDQ.

A Crack dealer? Well, Dumbya always did haff a soft spot fer folk who dealt in coke.

aka His head.

Be Well.

Did Dumbya also pardon Tim Griffin?

Oh, that's right he was never charged with caging black voter in the last election he actually was rewarded with a USA position w/o a senate review due to an end around craftily written into the so-called Patriot Act.

Seems funny to Spud cos "The Republican National Committee has been under a federal consent decree not to engage in the practice since getting caught in the 1981 gubernatorial election in New Jersey"

Dirty politics as usual.

Ah, the GOPhers.

Dumbya once called them "the party of convictions"

He shoulda added... "and pardons too!"

Be Well.

Spuds,

I was watching local news that day showing the Brooks Bros suits turning Brownish as those fucking assholes intimidated the polling officials before my very eyes.

I couldn't believe it was happening in my country.

In the next freaking county!

Perhaps if Mark Rich's ex wife could donate a million or so dollars to a Presidential Library Libby could get a pardon.

No, that wouldn't be very original. It worked once though.

~Corky

Spud found it almost surreal as well.

Democracy itself is imperriled by these actions and the MSM who should be leading the fight act more like a lap dog of the powers-that-be than a watch dog for the people.

Information is the key here.

"What we need is awareness
We can't get careless
We say What is this?"

~"Fight The Power" ~Public Enemy

Be Well.

Given Libby represented Rich on the pardon, I'd bet you're right.

"No, sir," Libby responded. "There are no facts that I know of that support the criminality of the client based on the tax returns."

Libby then said prosecutors from the Southern District of New York "misconstrued the facts and the law" when they prosecuted Rich.

"(Rich) had not violated the tax laws," said Libby.

Said one criminal about about another.

Nice post Yav.

Ya saved Spud some typing there. ^_^

Be Well.

PS: Marc Rich's pardon by Bubba was pure bullshit.

Nobody's arguing otherwise except fer the voices in Zulu's head.

Spud to the voices in Zulu's head:

"Can't you all just get along?"

Perhaps if Mark Rich's ex wife could donate a million or so dollars to a Presidential Library Libby could get a pardon.

No, that wouldn't be very original. It worked once though.

Perhaps Bush could have followed through on his word to find and punish anyone in his administration that leaked the name of a covert CIA agent.

After "OBL, dead or alive" went by the wayside, we shouldn't hold our breath waiting for that to happen

Yav,

A lawyer is paid to
ZEALOUSLY represent his client within the bounds of the law.

If you know of a law Libby broke in defending Rich then please share it.

Otherwise what have you got? Guilt by association? Oh my.

And where is the angst towards Richard Armitage?

Karl Rove won't do a day in jail. Libby was sloppy seconds, and the Great Expectation that was the Plame Game really turned out to be depressingly anticlimactic for the Liberal Left.

And now Bush won't pardon Libby? What's with those ethics?

But will anyone in this thread say the least thing complimentary about Bush's decision to not pardon Libby.

Nooooooooo. Hate is all the left has, it's no wonder so many lefties admit to having less than perfect mental health because that's just what 24 / 7 hate does to a person.

Wouldn't some of you lefties feel better if you just stopped hating so much all the time?

A Republican defending a lawyer?

Did hell freeze over?

Ah, just prepping for what's coming. Best start kissing that lawyerly ass.

When I found out the Breck Girl channeled a dead baby I have to admit that pretty much turned my stomach.

No, I won't defend John Edwards.

And I sure wouldn't vote for him - though I've heard some people really think he's a real nice authentic guy they would even vote for.

Some people are hard to figure.

Some people are hard to figure.

Yes, they are. For instance people that defend this:

And where is the angst towards Richard Armitage?

I've never liked the man. I have no respect for him. I have the chart of all the leakers and who they leaked to. Want me to post it again for the umpteenth time?

Karl Rove won't do a day in jail. Libby was sloppy seconds, and the Great Expectation that was the Plame Game really turned out to be depressingly anticlimactic for the Liberal Left.

Traitors warm your heart, eh?

No surprise. Party over Country every single time.

Perhaps Bush could have followed through on his word to find and punish anyone in his administration that leaked the name of a covert CIA agent.

Worth repeating. Bush is a lying sack.

Please, Plame wasn't covert.

'"Let me say two things," Fitzgerald told reporters. "I am not speaking [in this indictment] to whether or not Valerie Wilson was covert . . . And we have not made any allegation that Mr. Libby knowingly or intentionally outed a covert agent."

Fitzgerald did insist that Mrs. Wilson's "association with the CIA was classified," which would make leaking her occupation a crime. But he declined to bring any charges to that effect, casting even more doubt on the claim that her CIA job was a closely guarded secret.'

In the Liberal Fanticy World Plame was a super secret female James Bond, in reality she was a second tier pencil pusher who managed to involve her husband in a grand vacation to Niger.

'The Senate's report on intelligence failures would appear to confirm that
Valerie Plame did recommend her husband Joseph Wilson for the mission to Niger.'

As for Joey - from the Financial Times:

'. . Mr Wilson also stated in his account of the visit that Mohamed Sayeed al-Sahaf, Iraq's former information minister, was identified to him by a Niger official as having sought to discuss trade with Niger.

As Niger's other main export is goats, some intelligence officials have surmised uranium was what Mr Sahaf was referring to.
'

Wilsons should be in jail, not Libby.

"I am not speaking [in this indictment] to whether or not Valerie Wilson was covert . . . And we have not made any allegation that Mr. Libby knowingly or intentionally outed a covert agent."

Same planet. Different Worlds.

Fitz knew he couldn't prove the "knowingly part" due to stonewalling by the lying sacks of shit at BushCo ergo the whole covert question was rendered moot.

But Valerie Plame Wilson was covert.

The CIA has confirmed this on a number of occasions.

Spud typed this post really, really slowly in the hopes that Zulu finally figures it out.

Deth is optimist Spud but aint holding his breath waiting fer the scales to fall from Zulu eyes or nothin'.

Be Well.

he's saving Karl Rove and Scooter for last.

Translation: He'll pull off a Clinton

Zulu and the right are so God Damned Desperate to shift the blame to the Wisons in regards to the Valerie Plame outing and also wants them to be the ones punished insted of the TRUE Criminals. It is believable but oh so sad and sickening at the same time.

Larry Mohr

Libby probably has it made in his resort hotel (prison?).
He probably doesn't want to leave.
Hahaha!

Have you people lost long term memory? Bush the Younger has pardoned just over 140 people - that's roughly the same number Clinton the First pardoned IN HIS LAST FEW HOURS OF PRESIDENCY! And Clinton's list isn't just questionable - it's downright SORDID. Marc Rich, his own brother Roger, Whitewater scumbag Susan McDougal, Dan Rostenkowski, and the list goes on. Not to say Bush the Younger won't go on a spree in his last few hours (although I doubt Laura will have the gall to steal the furniture like Hillary did), but he'll have to work to catch Billy.

Of note: Go back over the last 50 years and look to see which Presidents have pardoned the most people. Any guess which party's Presidents let the most scumbags go free?

"But Valerie Plame Wilson was covert."

This has been discussed before but here goes for the chronically stupid:

A former CIA covert agent who supervised Mrs. Plame early in her career yesterday took issue with her identification as an "undercover agent," saying that she worked for more than five years at the agency's headquarters in Langley and that most of her neighbors and friends knew that she was a CIA employee.
"She made no bones about the fact that she was an agency employee and her husband was a diplomat," Fred Rustmann, a covert agent from 1966 to 1990, told The Washington Times.

On Wednesday, Wayne Simmons, a 27-year veteran at the CIA, told Fox News Radio: "As most people now know, [Plame] was traipsed all over Washington many years ago by Joe Wilson and introduced at embassies and other parties as 'my CIA wife.'"

Last week, Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely told WABC Radio's John Batchelor that during a 2002 conversation with Wilson while the two waited to appear on a TV show, Wilson casually mentioned that his wife worked at "the Agency."

In Oct. 2003, NBC's diplomatic correspondent, Andrea Mitchell, told CNBC that Plame's occupation "was widely known among those of us who cover the intelligence community and who were actively engaged in trying to track down who among the foreign service community was the envoy to Niger."
And in Sept. 2003, NationalReviewOnline's Cliff May wrote that when Plame's CIA connection was mentioned in Novak's column - "That wasn't news to me. I had been told that [Plame was CIA] - but not by anyone working in the White House. Rather, I learned it from someone who formerly worked in the government and he mentioned it in an offhand manner, leading me to infer it was something that insiders were well aware of."

So my question is did all of these people lie or are you lying?

Unbelievable there are STILL those who claim Valerie Plame was not Covert. God it DOES suck being You now doesn't it!!!!!!!!

Larry Mohr

But Larry, you just don't understand. Lush Rimjob, mAnn Coulter (the election fraudster) and the rest of the Renamblican pundits have declared the Standard Talking Point and since they've not changed it the rest of the Reichwinger sheeple continue to use it.

Oh, I almost forgot:

Bill Clinton got a blowjob!!

Bill Clinton got a blowjob!!

Bill Clinton got a blowjob!!

Bill Clinton got a blowjob!!

Bill Clinton got a blowjob!!

Bill Clinton got a blowjob!!

Bill Clinton got a blowjob!!

When you can't dispute the facts just yell louder.

Typical of the left.

Libby was the only person to face criminal charges in the case of the 2003 leak of then-CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson's identity. Thoes charges were for lying to the grand jury and not about revealing her identy.

He was convicted for lying just like BJ Willie was. As you all know he was impeached for that.

"Thoes charges were for lying to the grand jury and not about revealing her identy."

Oops, you're missing the big one: obstruction of justice, one of the FOUR felonies on which the jury unanimously convicted Scooter.

Four more felonies than Clinton, if you're keeping score.

Oops, you're missing the big one: obstruction of justice, one of the FOUR felonies on which the jury unanimously convicted Scooter.

Posted by Danforth

The obstruction of justice was for not cooperating with the grand jury on their quest after it was known who realy revealed her identy.

I guess The fact he had 4 charges and Clinton only had 1 makes Clinton a clean one owner.

The obstruction of justice charge was for protecting Cheney and Rove and EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY KNOWS IT!

"So my question is did all of these people lie or are you lying?"

Tampa,

Andrea Mitchell has since come out and said her comments were taken completely out of context.
archive.newsmax.com

The head of the CIA claimed Plame was covert.
www.msnbc.msn.com

The prosecutor proved in court Plame was covert.
www.msnbc.msn.com

The judge and jury agreed Plame was covert.
www.scoop.co.nz

So my question is: did you bother to check your "facts" or are you lying?

"The obstruction of justice was for not cooperating with the grand jury on their quest after it was known who realy revealed her identy."

Just to see how tethered you are to reality: Is it a crime for anyone who outs a covert agent, or only the first person who does it?

Second question: If you're a prosecutor, and early on in your investigation you discover someone's lying to you. Do you continue the investigation, or stop right there?

What is your point dan? Scooter didn't do it, Richard Armitage did. Why wasn't he brought before the grand jury? Why wasn't he convicted of anything?

The answer to the above is everyone in DC already knew she worked for the CIA and they couldn't get to Bush through Arnitage.

Bottom line is that Plame wasn't 'covert enough'.

Fitzgerald didn't go after Libby on the covert count because so many people in the beltway knew who she was and what she did for a living.

Wilson should be in jail.

Fitzgerald didn't go after Libby on the covert count because so many people in the beltway knew who she was and what she did for a living.

Wilson should be in jail.

One more time...

Fitzgerald didn't go after ScootScoot on the covert count because he knew he couldn't prove the "knowingly" part ergo the "covert" part was moot.

ie. He knew that the powers-that-be at BushCo had gotten their stories straight and that they would all lie through their teeth on the issue so he nailed Scoots fer obstruction and lying which were indisputable.

Repeating the same lie over and over doesn't give it any more credibilty Zulu it just destroys wotever credibility you might have once had.

Scooter, Rove, Bush, Cheney, Armitage and Robert "Douchebag of Liberty" Novak all deserve serious jail time fer being traitorous sacks of shit.

Be Well.

Please, Plame wasn't covert.

Zuloonie, you do realize that confirming whether an agent is cover or not is itself a crime?

Ya see, Fitzy was following THE LAW. Something you and your fellow shit stains laugh at.

As for Plame not being covert, I'll say this again, just for you, THE DIRECTOR OF THE CIA SAID THAT SHE WAS COVERT. Now, before you get your thong all bunched up your ass, the CIA DIRECTOR is allowed to acknowledge her status in the course of the investigation.

Please, find a new talking point as your 'she wasn't covert' is about as far from the truth as is possible. Next you'll be telling us that Saddam had something to do with 911.

Face it Zuloser, FACTS are NOT your friend.

Plame was as covert as a $20 hooker at a Democrat Party Convention.

She angled a way to get her shameless self promoting jackass of a husband to Niger and he came back and lied:

'The Senate report says fairly bluntly that Wilson lied to the media. Schmidt notes that the panel found that, "Wilson provided misleading information to the Washington Post last June. He said then that he concluded the Niger intelligence was based on a document that had clearly been forged because 'the dates were wrong and the names were wrong.'"

The problem is Wilson "had never seen the CIA reports and had no knowledge of what names and dates were in the reports," the Senate panel discovered. Schmidt notes: "The documents -- purported sales agreements between Niger and Iraq --
were not in U.S. hands until eight months after Wilson made his trip to Niger."'

If you understand the FACTS then you UNDERSTAND Joe Wilson SHOULD BE IN JAIL!

(see, I can use caps also)

Well if Valerie Plame was covert and her husband kept telling everyone that she worked at the CIA it seems his sorry ass should have been charged!

Of course we all know she was only covert to those stupid enough to think she was covert(democrats).

She angled a way to get her shameless self promoting jackass of a husband to Niger and he came back and lied:

~Screwloose

Wilson was asked after the fact if she had in fact "sent" her husband to Niger.

She answered in the negative.

She was correct to do so.

Valerie did not have the power to send anyone on that trip.

She was later asked w/i the agency if she could vouch for his abilities to ascertain the truth ie "recomend" him, she answered in the affirmative. She was right to do this because of his considerable contacts in the area. Wilson took a plane to Niger and ascertained that once again BushCo were conflating rumours into truths in their pell-mell dash to drum up support for their nefarious schemes for Iraq (which were on the books before they took power).

Wilson did not write the article "What I didn't find in Niger" fer almost a year after his trip. By this time it was well known in the intel community that BushCo had sent Condi to Italy to buy a piece of paper made by a known forger (and previously rejected as pure crap by the Italian intel community) as further "proof" that there was a Niger-Yellowcake-Iraq connection.

Yer grasp of the facts is tenuous at best and deliberately disingenuous at worst.

Scooter, Bush, Cheney, Armitage, Wob Novak, Rove AND Condi are all, therefore, deliberately lying traitorous sacks of shit who should all be in jail and in Cheney and Chimpy's case, IMPEACHED!

Thanx fer reminding Spud to put Neo-Condi's name on that "List o' Shame".

Spud fergot her role till you reminded Spud. ^_^

Be Well.

He knew that the powers-that-be at BushCo had gotten their stories straight and that they would all lie through their teeth on the issue so he nailed Scoots fer obstruction and lying which were indisputable.

Posted by dethspud

I don't see anyone arguing that so what's your point?

It was a ploy to make the Bush administration look bad and it worked.

Be well yourself up there in the great white north.

'It was a ploy to make the Bush administration look bad and it worked.'

Absolutely. Why the BDS's are angry over the outcome is, great as the damage done to the Bush Administration, the conclusion was anticlimactic.

The MoveOn's were promised Rove, maybe Darth Cheney.

While Libby was nice it he was second string, as so there is still a lot of Liberal disappointment out there.

Eaing away at the very minds of the Surrendercrats!
