Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The founder of the Minuteman Project, the anti-illegal immigrant group, endorsed Republican Mike Huckabee on Tuesday, while Huckabee dismissed a presidential rival's immigration criticism as the work of "the tattletale in the third grade." At a news conference hastily arranged to cope with a crippling ice storm, Huckabee brought out Minuteman head Jim Gilchrist, whose private group patrols the Mexican border on its own to keep out illegal immigrants. "For months now, I've been searching for a candidate to support for president of the United States," said Gilchrist. He said he settled on Huckabee as the candidate whose plans were most likely to halt "this illegal immigrant invasion problem."

What a bunch of sell out these people are. Tancredo is the most hard-line on immigration, Huckabee on the other hand wanted to give in-state tuition to illegals.

It would have helped Tancredo's numbers a lot if he would have gotten this endorsement, especially a few months ago.

The Minutement have lost all credibility on this issue.

The Minutement have lost all credibility on this issue.

Truth be told, they haven't been worth a tinker's dam since Lexington and Concord.

You're right about Tancredo, Member, but remember this: Tancredo is not, so far as I'm aware, a religious nut. Gilchrist is and so's Huckabee.

Why would any hardliner on immigration support Huckabee? How much are they paying him?

Huckabee's theory on illegal evolution, oops immigration, seems to have changed.

"Minuteman" OzarkAggie....the original one Minuteman is backing Huckabee....go figure!

At the last Dem debate it was pointed out that immigration is gonna be the big divisive wedge issue used by the right this time around.

Backing Huckabee? WTF? Did Chuck Norris have a li'l word with him or wot?

Minuteman? Well... his wife's been calling him that since the honeymoon and Spud guesses he decided to form the group just to make it official... and less insulting.

Spud laffed anyway.

Be Well.

I like the Minutemen and respect Jim Gilchrist (even contributed $25 to his 2006 Congressional campaign), but damn, Mike Huckabee? Gov. Huckabee has a lousy record on immigration-related issues, and has described anti-immigration sentiment as akin to racial bigotry. I suspect Mr. Gilchrist knew Gov. Huckabee when they were in college or something; there's no good, issue-based reason for Jim Gilchrist to throw his support to Huckabee. There are only three candidates who are good on immigration reform & border security issues, and those are Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, and Ron Paul. Of those, only Ron Paul has even a slight chance to be elected President in 2008, so that's where his endorsement should have gone. I frankly regard Mr. Gilchrist's endorsement of Gov. Huckabee as something of a betrayal.

The Huckleberry wants to give in-state tuition to illegals. Wants to invite in the illegals because they are "G-d's people". Who knows what Americans are. Truth is, G_d gave Mexico to the Mexicans, one of the richest countries in the world, and they made a mess of it. Thinking is not one of Huckleberry's strong points; Arkansas school system I guess. He is willing to take gifts from anyone without realizing that those gifts may come with strings attached. He is willing to make friendly with Fidel Castro if he can sell a few bags of Arkansas rice without ever considering any international implications. The big picture completely escapes him.

Why would any hardliner on immigration support Huckabee?

Because he's ahead in the polls. Guys running at 1% don't have much of a future in the patronage business. Aren't there already alot of questions out there about Gilroy anf the Minutmen's bank accounts?

Jim Gilchrist is just a political opportunist who tied his wagon to the hatred of brown people. If you look at his actions closely, you'll see he's just another Orange Curtain power hungry a-hole.

the kiss of death

I guess uou libs think there shouldn't be any borders. If that happens, we won't have a nation and will probably come under the control of the UN. Then we could be ruled by a bunch of 3rd world dictators.

""I guess uou libs think there shouldn't be any borders.""

hahahahahahaha!!!!!!! Er....don't you think before you start accusing us evil libruls you ought to speak to YOUR FUCKING PRESIDENT!!!

"don't you think before you start accusing us evil libruls you ought to speak to YOUR FUCKING PRESIDENT!!!"

Exactly, Danni. 6 years of unfettered rule and all they have to show for it is a finger to point at the Dems.

Just heard Paul railing against Bush's NAU. Sniper, why do Republicans want to turn the country over to the Mexicans?
Besides the cheap labor, I mean.

Er....don't you think before you start accusing us evil libruls you ought to speak to YOUR FUCKING PRESIDENT!!!

He's yours too and he is one of the libs. He can't seem to control his spending and isn't smart enough to get rid of all of BJ Willies men in the government after he took office. He ain't my hero. The big migration north started when the democratic congress gave the illegals aminsty during Ragan years and hasn't stopped since. Can you believe that, we gave them aminsty and that started the big flood? Everyone thought that was suppose to stop it. Just like the barber that gave the senator a free haircut. Six more senators were at his door the next morning before he opened looking for their freebe.

If illegal immigration is of any concern to you at all, you should visit this site.

"He's yours too and he is one of the libs."

That's the snipe, answering Danni's YOUR FUCKING PRESIDENT!!!

Can we have a contest for the best retort to this? Bush a liberal? I gotta think this is dumber than even the average Republican. herm
