My sister works for the state in California. Her and one of the women in her office were looking thru one of those websites and they found 2 of the men in her office were registered offenders.

I mean ya hear stories, but it was the oddest thing when I met a guy and his wife at a friends house party, and the guy was showing pictures of himself on a sex offenders website to the other party goer's, the girl he molested was his wife

He was 19 she was 16,(he was a SR. in HS she was a sophomore when they met) her father turned him in, he did 6 months in jail, and they've been married for 6 years since.

Now I suspect this isn't the everyday story, but until that point I really thought that was just one of those hollywood stories... That only "real" sex offenders got put on the lists.
Since then, I'm really kind of curious as to what percentage of folks on the lists actually did what...

Was looking at a Megan's site near where my sister's family lives.

Here is the thing not only are child abuses and rapist listed there but anyone else with a "sex" crime.

You have to specifically look for the charge.

So if you get arrested for soliciting a protitute you get published by Megan's law.

If you produce "obscene" material or performance deamed "obscene" by "an average person" you can be published by Megan's law.

And of course misdemeanor indecent assault - which could be someone stupid enough to give a female colleague at work a shoulder massage as a come on and not be Tom Brady. AND too stupid to get a good lawyer. You make it on Megan's law

Sorry but I'm all for a register of dangerous sex offenders such as paedophiles and rapists but to get branded by the letter "M" for trying to pick up a hooker or making a lewd bumpersticker? (actually listed as example in Megan's law for the charge of production of obscene materials)

How the fuck can they associate a lewd bumpersticker to the horrible rape and murder of a little girl is beyond my comprehension.

Stem cell research has not been banned in any way. Certain lines aren't allowed access to federal funding, however that is nothing close to a ban.

Used to be funnier when they had a picture of him at 14. Do the math, and he had to be 13 when he "solicited someone under 16". I don't know more than that... he could be a big ol creep (I called and it's a sealed juvenile record), but he's on the list for life.
