Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Sunday's deadly shooting sprees at a megachurch and a missionary training school were believed to have been carried out by the same person -- a 24-year-old suburban Denver man who "hated Christians," a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.

The gunman came to the door of the Arvada dormitory seeking shelter, asking whether he could spend the night, said Peter Warren, director of Youth With a Mission Denver.

When told he couldn't stay, the man walked inside, opened fire, then left on foot, Warren said.

"I'll go with mental patient"

It's all the rage.

Turnleft,
Even if the make guns illegal there will still be guns everywhere.
This isn't the issue.
You need to look deeper into the problem.
I'm telling you that it is all of the wierd drugs that are being prescribed like candy.

Look deeper into the problem before you throw the pattent leftwing solution out there to ban guns.

Turn: This has been like Superbowl week for the NRA.

You guys should dig deeper before you make your comments about the NRA.
The NRA is an establishment orginization that is pushing for stricter gun controls.

The NRA backing gun control is like "peace in our time" Cheney pledging security in Iraq. The NRA has been the biggest reason for the massive upsurge in guns for the past two generations. They are bought and owned by gun manufacturers and manufacture the lie that "they're commin' to take yer guns!"

All the 2nd amendment folks can just forgeddaboutit. Likely as not you aren't going to be defending yourself against the most powerful military force in human history.

If you believe the NRA or the GOP endorses this you are the nost gulible person in the world. You may even be a dumb f**k.

I could just as well say it is looked on with glee by the gun control loby so they can ram some more gun control stuff down out throats. How does that grab your ass turn? Kinda make you puker up? Hell it may have been instigated by them. Maby it's blood on your hands.

"Another NRA love-in. Are they weekly events now?

Thank you GOP/NRA for all the death. How does it feel to have blood on your hands?"

The NRA has nothing to do with this moron, moron.

Typical leftist tripe to blame everybody but the perp.

I'd love to see a study of crime rates of NRA members.

I can guarantee it's lower than the general populace.

The NRA is all about LEGAL possesion and use of firearms.

If I broke the law, my 20+ weapons could be confiscated, so i don't. As is the case with the overwhelming majority of NRA members.

If you weren't such a quivering coward when it comes to weapons, you'd admit this.

Just to clarify for the expected ignorant response, i'd obey the law, armed or not.

Sniper insists on being the turd in the punchbowl. At least make some kind of effort, will ya?

I've got a big green gun locker in my living room that confirms that you, and every other Reichwing dick head that constantly blathers on about all liberals being anti-gun, are full of shit. The list of its contents would no doubt turn you the same color as the locker. Yeah...a Kucinich/Mondale democrat with a bunch of guns. Who's butt's puckered now, flufferpuff?

There is no shortage of crazy people in this country, and as there is a plethora of unsecured weapons for them to get their twitchy little hands on, stories like this and the other unfortunate episode in the mall a couple days ago should not come as a surprise to anyone. If you have guns in the house, you owe it to yourself, your family and your neighbors to keep them secured. That's real gun control, fuckers. Sticking that hog leg under your pillow will not make you any safer. You want burglar control? Try a doberman.

Newsworthy Dutch. Well said.

Regards,

Until Dobermans are bullet proof, i'll rely on my AK, AR, shotguns, and m1911.

I feel plenty safe.

My firearms are in bolted down safes when i'm not there.

Enforce existing laws.

Leave me and other law abiding citizens alone.

How many times have the stormed the house Babu? I mean, given the dog is dead it was probably horrific.

Please don't tell me "they" don't attack because "they" know how well defended you are.

See, this is the faux seige mentality that people are taking the NRA to task about.

Regards,
etc.

All the 2nd amendment folks can just forgeddaboutit. Likely as not you aren't going to be defending yourself against the most powerful military force in human history.

I don't know about that. I don't trust government enough to leave myself utterly defenseless.
And it may very well be a suicide mission, but not for everyone.

I wonder if the Jews, being marched naked into the ovens of Auschwitz, would have gladly traded that certain death for a fighting chance against the Nazi army. 3 million armed Jewish men might not have stood a chance of defeating the Nazi army, but it might have bought enough time for the women and children to escape.

If you're going to die anyway, might as well take out as many of the bastards as you can first.
And don't say it can't happen again. As soon as you say that, it can happen again.

You're still under the impression I'm advocating taking your guns aways from you. My question for you is how many of your neighbors have weapons around the house that refuse to take the same precautions that you and I have? Especially homes with children in them?

And try picking your knuckles up off the floor long enough to realize that the dog buys you the time to access a weapon should you discern you actually need one. Where the fuck do you live, Fallujah?

36 And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one. 37 "For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, 'AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS'; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment." 38 They said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough."

One of the beauties of living in AZ is the criminals know it's a crapshoot as to whether or not their potential victims are armed.

An armed criminal in New York or DC has no such worries.

I wonder if the Jews, being marched naked into the ovens of Auschwitz, would have gladly traded that certain death for a fighting chance against the Nazi army.

?! Norm?

Come now. That is even a comparison.

Look at Iraq. The country is flooded with guns and the American army kills at will. You and the rest of the citizenship wouldn't have a chance.

Anyways, why are you imagining youself at war with the US Army anyways? That's another silly notion that the NRA likes to foster. Do you really believe the country is that close to chaos and about to turn on itself? Hardly rational.

America has a huge internal problem with killing its own citizenry. Lots and lots of other countries have just as many guns per capita and have a vanishing fraction of the same problem. It is a matter of peace, order, and good government. Life and liberty are taking a toll with the persuit of happiness getting all the attention.

One of the first things Hitler did was to ban private ownership of arms, as a sign of an "enlightened" society.

Only people interested in their own kind of tyranny, advocate disarming or tracking the firearm ownership of law abiding citizens.

Ah, not to put the fly in your Rambo chardonnay, but Auschwitz was in Poland, not Germany.

Speaking of which, why do so-called Christians go wacky and kill people this time of year? I personally love the lights and trees and what-not.

Ted Haggard's old church in C. Springs. This story is twisted in so many ways.

Look at Iraq. The country is flooded with guns and the American army kills at will. You and the rest of the citizenship wouldn't have a chance.

Our soldiers are at war with 0.1% of the Iraqi population, and that's enough to get 100 soldiers a month killed.
If millions of Iraqis took up arms against us, we would lose in Iraq, unless we carpet bombed those millions and basically leveled Baghdad.

Anyways, why are you imagining youself at war with the US Army anyways? That's another silly notion that the NRA likes to foster. Do you really believe the country is that close to chaos and about to turn on itself? Hardly rational.

That attitude is exactly why millions of Jews allowed themselves to be herded into ghettos and concentration camps. No, I do not believe that America is in iminent danger. But neither was Germany in 1928 when gun registration laws were passed.
It was ten years later the Nazis used that registration to disarm the Jews. That's not propaganda, it's history that should never be repeated.

I personally love the lights and trees and what-not.

Aye! Spud does too!

Fortunately, there was another armed person there to interdict the predator before he did more damage. Imagine the scene if there had not been an armed civilian on the premises. The number of innocent victims killed and wounded was undoubtedly lowered by the armed guard killing the gunman.

So much for those who don't want guns around and who want to rely entirely on the government, and discourage "self-help, which they characterize as vigilantism, and other terms that "they" think are pejorative. This response was "good." Get over it.

You people are so focused on process that you would prefer innocents killed to someone working off another script to save innocent lives. If they depart from your "ritual," then something needs to be amiss. right?

No doubt another 2nd amendment loving gun nut, expressing his joy at being allowed to bear arms. A regular one man militia. Hurrah for the NRA!

From the article:

"The gunman at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs was shot and killed by a church security guard after entering the church's main foyer with high-powered rifle shortly before 1 p.m. and opening fire, Colorado Springs Police Chief Richard Myers said. Four others were wounded, Myers said."

Armed guards at a church?

I don't remember seeing those when my mother would take me to church.

"If you have guns in the house, you owe it to yourself, your family and your neighbors to keep them secured. That's real gun control, fuckers. "

Well put.

There is something really weird about this story that hasn't come out yet.

Gunman killed after suspected shooting spree leaves four dead

Washington - A church security guard shot and killed a gunman who fired into a throng of worshippers leaving Sunday services in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Two people in the crowd were killed and three wounded, the daily Gazette of Colorado Springs reported.

The same gunman was suspected in an overnight shooting more than 12 hours earlier at a dormitory for a Christian missionary group in Arvada, a suburb of Denver, Colorado. Two people were shot to death and two wounded in the earlier incident.

The shooting scenes are about 100 kilometres apart.

This is Haggard's old church? The gunman was probably looking to score some meth and get a knob wash from Teddy and went postal when he found out neither were on the menu.

Who's to say the gunman was not somebody on whom the church's "Youth Pastors" tried out some new gay hustle moves. Homophobic gunman plus gay "Youth Pastor." Yowzah. yowsah, yowsah! An inappropriate touch or tapdance...a quick trip back to the car...wham-wham-wham!

I still think The Brady broad and HCI were behind it all. What a way to inflame the issue for more gun laws.

The woman who shot the guy knew what gun control is. Its hitting what you are aiming at, not melting the guns down into little green cars.

Huckabee has the answer, he believes we have lost the savior, we must repent and return to Jesus. And you want to vote this idiot into office. That rapist claimed he repented, so Haukabee helped release him. What a president he would make!

I work at a facility that is in sight of New Life (and incidentally Focus on the Family). Still quite a few police at 6:30 this morning as I drove by.

The local news has obviously been filled with this event. I was not aware until this morning that two had been slain at New Life, the news was still so confused last night.

I did wonder at first about armed security guards at a Christian Church - seems rather inconsistent with the message of Christ. But New Life evidently became spooked after learning about the incident at Youth With a Mission in Arvada and had contracted to bring in additional security for Sunday. The right choice was made.

Authorities are attempting to determine of there is a connection between the incident in Arvada and Colorado Springs, if it was the same shooter.

Yet another youth angry at the world, determined to punish, to kill. There is a sickness that is pervading our society. We are not safe anywhere.

Just wondering! Are we going to pursue criminal charges against the parents for financing, training and harboring this terrorist!

Perhaps we should have the presidents rubber stamp lackeys offer legislation that deems home schoolers members of a terrorist organization!

I mean, you all have always jumped at that opportunity before with other groups (like PETA, Environmental Groups, Greenpeace, tree huggers, ACLU, etc, etc) so why not now?

Many people are expressing relief that a volunteer security guard used her own gun to stop a man on a shooting spree Sunday. "She probably saved over 100 lives," the Brady Boyd, the pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, said on Monday.

God, of course was stocking up at Walmart at the time.

YEAH!

That detail is true it just hasn't been released to the public yet! Just wait and you will get your proof (of which you will promptly deny and claim its "Political Bias" and attribute to "Christian Haters", "Godless Democrats" and the "Liberal Media")!

In addition to that yet to be released fact, (home schooled cretin) the dead shooter is also noted as being a "Deeply Religious Christian Fundamentalist"!

But in the meantime, (until you get the facts you will inevitably deny) since you asked, let me put it to you in a way you are familiar with:

Prove that it's NOT true (sound familiar doesn't it)!

"This week has been filled with news of shootings. We had nine people killed in the Nebraska shopping mall, seven people killed in two separate shootings at Colorado religious establishments, and even a fight breaking out that turned into a shooting match at a Columbus mall. Not very festive news for the most festive time of the year.
All this has had me thinking about the FISA debate when proponents of the warrantless wiretapping were quick to argue it was necessary to give up freedoms for security. Would these same people apply that argument to the second amendment instead of the fourth? I think we all know the answer on that. Perhaps the next time a Republican Senator says that we should give up freedoms for security when it comes to listening in on phone calls, then he should be asked about giving up the right to bear arms as a way to protect us in church or at the local mall. Let's see how quickly the subject changes then."

Update:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) -- The shooter at both a missionary center and a church Sunday in Colorado was a man who once worked on a mission with the center, a source familiar with the events said Monday.

The source said the gunman -- who was killed by a security guard at the site of the second shooting -- was Matthew Murray.

The shootings left four people dead, in addition to the gunman, and five wounded.

The source -- a long-time member of New Life Church, site of the second shooting -- said Murray had a falling out with Youth With a Mission after working with the organization a couple of years ago and that he sent antagonistic and threatening correspondence afterward.

"The security guard was a woman in plain clothes who volunteers with the church and uses her own personal weapon, Boyd said. She has a law enforcement background and is licensed to carry a weapon. She attends one of the morning services and then volunteers as a guard during another service, he said."

Straight enough?

So it would appear that REDNECKVILLE was correct on the religious background.

So let me get this straight...

Your post was "hair trigger" fast. Fact is many, many, more victims were saved by one of those guns toting nasty people (could have even been a republican)! I doubt it mattered to the people at that church. This guy thought it would be easy pickings. Thank God for concealed carry!

Sure is quite around here.

As anyone knows the problem is NOT guns as only outright confiscation, door to door searches, would even begin to round up all the weapons in America.

As Michael Moore pointed out, other countries allow their citizens to own weapons yet they don't go around killin' folk.

I have never had to pull a gun on anybody. I never let ANYONE know I'm armed...when I'm not home my guns are unloaded and diassembled, hidden all over in pieces.

I never carried a gun until I was beaten and shot at when I was 17..ever since I'm armed...chances are I will never face that situation again since I'm prepared..I have even almost been robbed..I was seconds away from a confrontation in an alley 2 years ago. I was loading up after my night job and I was confronted by a guy who wasn't the usual street thug.. he asked me if I believed in God and I said I believed in a higher power..the whole time I had my hand on a pistol behind my car door.He left and ended up robbing a couple and was later arrested.

I think that goes with just about everything in life..If you're ready Murphy will pass you by...

When they came for the Jews I did to take action for I was not a Jew.

When they came for the Christians I did not take action for I was not a Christian.

When they came for the Buddist I did not take action for I was not a Buddist.

When they came for me there was no one left.

I'll keep my guns at most any expense thank you very much.

"I think that goes with just about everything in life..If you're ready Murphy will pass you by..."

Having a gun and knowing how to use it changes ones demenor such that a streetwise individual can pick up on it.

Knowing that you could defend yourself registers to those who are out to prey on the weak.

I know a guy who was cornered with his wife in an underground parking structure. There sere three of them. He quietly said to them that they did not want to do what they were about to do. He never drew his gun.

they left to find a weaker target.

Why couldn't he just feel sorry for them like the rest of us?

Quite what?

The mall where the shooting was last week had signs that firearms were not permitted. That's Basically an advertisement to a gunman that they can shoot people unopposed since no one would be armed. Too bad. Perhaps lives could have been saved like they were by the security guard at the church if a bystander had been armed

Let's just hope he wasn't shot in the back eh?

A Marine vet using the GI bill to attend college after discharge was taking a class in philosophy at a local college.

The professor, (an obvious atheist) week after week exclaimed there was no God and anyone that thought there was and didn't agree with him after all the proof he had shown was a stupid ignorant fool.

The Marine had debated with the professor over the course of several weeks and the professor, growing frustrated that he couldn't convince the Marine that there was no God decided to again offer proof.

The professor announced to the Marine, if there is a God you summon him to knock me down. The Marine proceeded to the lectern where the professor was standing and punched him in the face, knocking him down and breaking his nose.

The professor, now furrious, screamed that wasn't God. To which the Marine calmly replied, God was busy so he sent me.

What a deal. A christian hatter goes apshit with a rifle and 1000 rounds of ammo only to be stopped by a lady with a pistol. Good thing it wasn't in a "no gun Zone" like VT. The death toll could have been much worse, up in the 20s or 30s. He had enough ammo to kill everyone in the church.

How many people coud he kill it the 10 minutes it would take for a 911 response? That 10 minutes could be as long as 2 hours like at Columbine a few years eariler. Good thing the NRA is there to defend our right to protect ourselves.

Another question would be what would they do in Japan or England when when of these suicidal maniacs goes on a rampage. It seems like every week we have that over here, do they have the same problem? Do they have the NRA over there 'protecting' them?

Why is that do you suppose?

It's a pretty serious charge. I'm guessing that you were joking, unless you've gone so far off the deep end that you not only can't tell the difference, but are eager to inflame our differences and capitalize on a tragedy to that end.

.....aw, go cry a river betelg. sniff...sniff...

plus...do you know what a ? is dumbass?

The second amendment is just as valid as the first.

But not as important as the fourth, it seems these days.

Gee, I wonder why the 'hand of god' didn't stop the bullets before they hit the people?

Maybe it was the Tooth Fairy or Easter Bunny's turn?

Somebody is in BIG trouble!

church security guard

...that says it all...

Regards,
etc.

news item:
The gunman believed to have killed four people at a megachurch and a missionary training school had been thrown out of the school about three years ago and had been sending hate mail to the program, police said in court papers Monday.

The gunman was identified as Matthew Murray, 24, who was home-schooled by his family and raised in what a friend said was a deeply religious Christian household. Murray's father is a neurologist and a prominent multiple-sclerosis researcher.

Kind of scary. Plus, we have DR posters who HOPE other people die (and that they die painfully). Makes ya wonder.

Amen 4EYES!

Well, the body count still belongs to the christians. Whether on this continent, europe, asia, africa.
In fact, your cults would not exist absent the mass murder, rape and destruction that you have delivered upon humanity.
How about this: Hitler ( a christian) would not have had the false race to exterminate in europe, had the false race not aided and abbetted the destruction of the tribes of europe by the roman/christian armies.
Thats Karma.

Thank God for concealed carry!

YEAH!

I find that sad and incredibly ironic ---- and unfortunately typical of these Cult followers!

Yup, God did this just so you can use it as an example of why everyone should be armed!

The only thing that could make what you wrote more disingenuous would have been if you invoked the common favorite of the shirk and slide crowd (every and all problems they create for themselves is always shirked off as "Gods Will" to excuse themselves of any and all responsibility) and that is "They were Blessed"!

As if the survivors were specially "Blessed", the victims deserving of a violent death (i.e. NOT "blessed") all wrapped in a situation created and nurtured by this very environment of literal extremisms!

See, Fundamentalism Breeds Fundamentalists and Fundamentalist do this kind of Extreme Shit!

Then they sit back saying shit like "Thank God" and "I was Blessed" and excuse these actions as Gods Will so as to absolve themselves of any personal culpability in what is in fact a result of their own making!

The lead into the story is misleading. It implies the shooter was an atheist when in fact he was schooled from early on as a devout Christian and was a Christian.

"Sure is quite around here.

Quite what?

Quite quiet.

The security guard who took down the shooter and likely saved many more lives was a woman.
She's
a blond too for all you clowns who make "dumb blond" jokes. Way to go, girl.

wonder who they'll hate when we're gone.

Redneckville - methinks thou doth enjoy this situation exceedingly. I hope your throat will recover from all that crowing.

One of the skeptics was looking for proof of the kid's homeschooling. Read about it all in his own words, very disturbing stuff. Google "azusa street survivors," follow the top link and click into the forums (link is at the bottom of the page) and do a user search for nghtmrchld26.

From what I've heard, each other.

"You Christians brought this on yourselves" and "All I want to do is kill and injure as many of you ... as I can especially Christians who are to blame for most of the problems in the world."
-The Murder

Hated Christians?

He hated them so much that he joined a missionary. He didn't just 'hate christinas'. They kicked him out of the missionary and he got revenge.

Christinas? *christians

The guy was a home schooled chile of an Evangelical family and a former congregant.

He personified wot's wrong with the right.

He's a pure product of the right.

Yer team, Dude.

The Left are about the love, mostly.

It's the right who think that all problems can be solved with violence.

It's the right who don't believe in gun safes or registration.

But sure, keep pointing at the left here.

S'fun fer Spud!

Be Well.

Greetings to all fellow Retorters. I am writing this now from Colorado Springs. (That is not a joke)

I arrived here on Sunday night and got the first news of it when I checked into my hotel. At the time, I was exhausted from travelling all day and wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to the details, but I don't recall them having even released the shooter's name at that time.

I do recall my immediate thought (after "why do so many crazy assholes seem to have guns these days?") was that this asshole either had a personal beef with the church, or he was on some kind of anti-christian, homicidal jag. Apparently, I was correct in that thought.

As I've said in the past, I'm all for the idea of maintaining the second amendment. I'm against the banning of guns. Those, however, who think that gun-control laws (ie requiring licenses and training) are a violation of the second amendment, I'd like to point out a very important part of the amendment that you need to take a look at:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Now, I'm aware of the thought that the founders felt that the militia would be, basically, everyone. However, they were very clear in the use of the words "well regulated". That means the people with guns should be controled (synonymous with regulated, and done through licensure) and well trained to prevent accidents.

The Left are about the love, mostly.

1) Joseph Stalin
2) Chairman Mao Zedong
3) Pol Pot
4) Nicolae Andruta Ceausescu
5) Ho Chi Man

For some reason I just don't feel the love, or maby the just love their people to DEATH.

It was touched on earlier up the thread by theperfectstorm, but remained relatively ignored and I'm still curious. What is the differance between the US gun owning population and the Swiss or Finnish, which have similar levels of gun totting citizens, but less massacres? It seems from an external view that, its not a question of more or less gun legislation, but that america has a disproportionate amount of nutters. Apologies..... that seems a bit ruder now its typed.

Rude or not, it's a pretty spot on description, Mate.
