Persian Gulf nations must demand that Iran come clean about its past nuclear ambitions and openly vow to not develop such weapons in the future, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in a keynote address at an international security conference.

Bwhahahahahah Gates is making demands on the Persian Gulf states?? bwhahahaha what does He think He is King Jackabooboo??

A reasonable demand. We can't just handle them with kid gloves, as some would suggest.

Where are the liberals? They should be shouting, "Yea, support Iraq for it's future, what a great idea to get more nations involved in the Gulf to help Iraq, so our troops can come home with a job well done".

Did Gates have to suggest the concept in the first place?

They should just come home anyway.
The war in Iraq is a big lie.
We have no business there.

They still don't get it. This war was started with a lie and the lies continue. They don't want a USA puppet government in their back yard nor will they support it. We have been found to be duplicitous, insincere and generally transparently imperialistic in our methods.

Bring the boys home.

Yea, support Iraq for it's future, what a great idea to get more nations involved in the Gulf to help Iraq, so our troops can come home with a job well done".

yeah, the Gulf States have always been big supporters of the invasion of Iraq and the subsequent emboldening of Iran and their own shia minorities.
Some could ask why Dumbya didn't get any arabs to sign on in 2003 the way his Poppy did in the 1990s, but then again, we'd have had to share the oil loot.
They're just waiting for the surge to take over Basra and the Iraqi oil fields and Gates to learn the difference between shia and sunni. And enjoying the tripling of oil revenues since 2003.

Gates Urges Gulf Nations to Support Iraq

For the Gulf Nations to support Iraq it would mean throwing out the invading occupiers.

Something tells me that Gates hasn't quite yet got his head around who the ME thinks the enemy is.

Strewth!

And while everbody is "coming clean" in the middle east why doesn't Israel finally fess up to being an undeclared nuclear power and non-signatory in the region, which is, of course, the main reason fer Iran wanting a nuke in the first place?

Then America can come clean about replacing Mossadegh with a tyrant Shah and maybe apologise fer supplying the mad-man Saddam Hussein with WMD and co-ordinates from AWACS to drop on the Iranian people during the Iran/Iraq war and while all this truth is spilling out, maybe the US can admit their involvement in the killing of the Kurdish villagers in Halabja during that time. Also apologising fer Ronnie Raygun selling arms to both sides during that war wouldn't go amiss

Then, everybody in the region can gather together round the communal camp fire, roast s'mores and all sing Kumbaya till the hug-a-thon starts!

In point of fact, a lot of wot Spud has pointed out above has made it past enuff media filters in the US by now so that Spud has noticed (only recently) how the propaganda machines are now trying to incorporate it into the official party line.

That's nice thinks Spud. A type of slow tortuous progress but progress nonetheless.

Thank Mercy fer small favours sez Spud.

Be Well.
