Kudzu may have yet another unwelcome characteristic: air pollution. Researchers believe the fast-growing nuisance plant is releasing ground-level ozone, contributing to smog, breathing difficulties and global climate change. Kudzu covers 11,580 square miles in the United States, primarily in the Southeast, and is growing at a rate of 200 square miles a year.

Kudzu Causes Global Warming(tm)

Who is it that has been telling Zat for a while to give up the global warming scare mongering and to turn his energy to fighting kudzu? It seems they were right.

This stuff is all over my backyard.

I wish I could. Some nights I imagine I can hear it creeping closer to the house. On those dark nights I imagine waking up the next day looking a bit like Jordy Verrill. (See if you can name the reference without looking it up.)

Mooman,

It's all over my backyard too. It's a yearly battle. Use Ortho Brush-B-Gone. It works pretty well. It still takes about a week for the leaves to start dying, but eventually it will die off. Don't get it on any plants or grass that you want to keep alive.....

Thanks for the tip, Shredder. I might have to make a trip to Home Depot this weekend then.

Stephen King cameo in a movie based on one of his anthologies. The title of the movie escapes me at the moment. I had a roommate that like to leave things in the refrigerator until they inevitably wound up looking not too dissimilar.

Get a goat. They love kudzu.

I'm sure the lefties answer will be to turn to the government for a solution.

GOATMAN, maybe you could ruminant on kudzu, then let us know what you think.

I've tried it. The young tender leaves aren't that bad.

I have heard that kudzu is very popular as a salad green in Japan.

I've been telling him the threat for MONTHS! Zat/Data is stubborn though. He would rather just see us all quit exhaling or something.

"Get a goat. They love kudzu." Posted by UPRON

Zat/Data wouldn't like that. Goats fart, causing global warming.

I wasn't joking when I said the tender young leaves were good. I've actually had them.

Goats fart,

And the billies piss in their own beards.

"He would rather just see us all quit exhaling"

Actually I could just give a shit.
And if posting the scientific literature is scaremongering, then you are a seriously ignorant person.

" Biosphere: How Life Alters Climate

People had long speculated that the climate might be altered where forests were cut down, marshes drained or land irrigated. Scientists were skeptical. During the first half of the 20th century, they studied climate as a system of mechanical physics and mineral chemistry, churning along heedless of the planet's thin film of living organisms. Then around 1960, evidence of a rise in carbon dioxide showed that at least one species, could indeed alter global climate--humanity. As scientists looked more deeply into how carbon moved in and out of the atmosphere, they discovered many ways that other organisms could also exert powerful influences. Forests in particular were deeply involved in the carbon cycle, and from the 1970s onward, scientists argued over just what deforestation might mean for climate. By the 1980s, it was certain that all the planet's ecosystems were major players in the climate changes that would determine their own future.

"In our century the biosphere has acquired an entirely new meaning; it is being revealed as a planetary phenomenon of cosmic character." -- W.I. Vernadsky(1) "

Bali climate talks throw focus on Kyoto offsets

By Gerard Wynn
NUSA DUA, Indonesia, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Rich nations have less than a month to go before they must start meeting emissions caps under the Kyoto Protocol that aims to fight global warming.
Yet 16 of the 36 industrialised nations bound by Kyoto limits are over their targets set for 2008-2012 and may have to buy carbon offsets to meet these, drawing criticism at a U.N. meeting in Bali."

Oz has signed on. That leaves the US alone.
Not that it matters.

Now, ZAT, admit it. I've been telling you for months that Kudzu was the threat...ADMIT IT! You kept saying I was misinformed, ignorant, whatever. WAS I RIGHT!? Maybe I'm right about you being wrong too??? LOL
Another thing I'm right about...you're a pontificating, snobbish, pompous ass who things he has validity because his posts are so l-o-o-ong.

kudzu...

beautiful kudzu!

now, get me another beer!

That's it, Nanc, that's it. The first time I was in Atlanta, I saw this stuff all over the pine trees on I-285. It looked like someone draped a huge green blanket over everything, just like in the picture.
