I hope she makes it out of that country alive - the radicals there are calling for her to be executed.

"KHARTOUM, Sudan (CNN) -- In an effort to shut down Khartoum's Unity High School, a disgruntled former employee alerted Sudanese officials that a British teacher had allowed her class to name a teddy bear "Mohammed," a British source and Sudanese presidential palace source told Time magazine's Sam Dealey."

asshole

The pardon represents at least a glimpse of sanity in a region filled with paranoid, religion-obsessed lunatics.

On the one hand, glad to know she was pardoned.

On the other hand, doesn't Sudan have sovereignty?

I hope you people don't complain when Mexico or the EU refuses to extradict a crook because they don't like our death penalty.

BTW, can we send them Scooter Libby in her place? Maybe he deserves a few lashes.

I hope she makes it out of that country alive - the radicals there are calling for her to be executed.

These people have the memory capacity of a fish. I'm sure they've already moved on to the next "outrage".

It's good to know the president of Sudan could see who stupid the whole thing made his country look. I still say we stop sending them aid, we should only help those from the Darfur region who are being killed by the Arabs and Islamic arseholes.

What's stopping us from bombing these radical muslim groups who are killing people in Darfur? Are they unorganized and hard to locate, or is it a lack of will?

Naww, it's lack of oil Rob.

There is no oil there, at least not enough to justify a war, maybe?

Naww, it's lack of oil Rob.

Lack of oil makes bombing easier... no supply interruptions, no worries about hitting anything valuable (especially in Sudan)...

PS Since you're both implying we went to Iraq for oil, any word on when we're going to start getting that stuff? Its been four years... you'd think we could have filled up a tanker or two of free oil by this point...

Hell that would probably go over pretty well here...

Oh, I think that American oil companies will get plenty of fat contracts with the puppet government there.

Last week the U.S. and Iraq signed what is in essence a treaty , but not legally a treaty (to avoid senate scrutiny) that among other things, would treat very nicely American investments there (in other words, OIL).

Oh, I think that American oil companies will get plenty of fat contracts with the puppet government there.

Well again, its been 4 years... we couldn't fill up tankers and get them over here in 4 years?

Looks like the claim that we went there for oil will not pan out.

This from CNN
"NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Despite claims by some critics that the Bush administration invaded Iraq to take control of its oil, the first contracts with major oil firms from Iraq's new government are likely to go not to U.S. companies, but rather to companies from China, India, Vietnam, and Indonesia."

CNNMoney

The first, maybe, it doesn't mean American companies won't get the biggest contracts. Why would they want to build permanent bases in Iraq then? To protect the interests of India, China, etc?

I love it how all the Muslim hater start ringing their hands and salivating at this most definate propaganda.

Either that or Bushie screwed the pooch, again.

They wanted to kill a bitch because a teddy bear was named "Muhammad." How can you not hate Muslims?

Ok, what about this sovereignty issue I brought up before? We in the U.S. have the death penalty, which I support, but the EU must think we are savages like Sudan and they refuse often to extradict crooks over here who face the death penalty unless we agree to take the death penalty off the table, which makes people complain about our sovereignty.

People who go to those countries should go at their own risk. Just like smoking tobaco will kill you, going to Sudan will get you stoned or hacked to death. Know it before you get on the plane and don't bitch and complain about it later.

IMHO, Bush DID go there with that in mind, such as things get into his mind, but once again he's fucked up even the simplest task.

We're paying for it though... seems kind of wierd to take over a nation, occupy it militarily all for the purposes of getting oil then pay the going rate for it...

If all the US wanted from Iraq was oil, we would have just started dealing with Hussein again...

The "Blood for oil" argument is poorly thought out...

Rob - I wasnt making that point. Just making it clear that we do get oil from Iraq. The partisans on both sides can spin that fact any way they choose.

No - to keep Iran and Russia out. Duh.

Kris,
Also, cheap oil helps the consumer not the oil company. - Just to play devils advocate. If anything, the Iraq war (and the war on terror) has been a boon for oil comapnies.

"The pardon represents at least a glimpse of sanity in a region filled with paranoid, religion-obsessed lunatics."

They do alot of business with Great Britain. Wasn't worth losing billions over.

I wonder if these means the world puts less pressure on Sudan over Darfur than GB did over this teacher.

By the way, for those of you saying Sudan doesn't have oil: Oil is Sudan's #1 export and oil production has been increasing rapidly in recent years.

CAP - thanks for the data. Also please note that the Top 3 seem to play musical chairs from year to year but Iraq has been stuck at #6 since at least 2002. Hmm...

Back to the real subject: I am glad they let her go.

Canada has regularly (in the past) sought guarentees that if it extradites back to the US that the death penalty will not be used on conviction.

Very recently a Canadian who is on death row in Wisconsin if I recall found out the Canadian government withdrew the objections it had over his sentence. It generated a mild rebuke of the government in the press and in Parliament but that was about it. His crime (to which he freely admits to) was particularly hienous if I am remembering it correctly.

The US is one of the last "advanced" countries on the planet that can't solve its political issues regarding the death penalty.

The "blood for oil" strategy of the neo-cons was poorly thought out. You do recall the "flowers and chocolates" and "mission accomplished" phases of the enterprise?

IF BushCheney and co and actually accomplished what they so ineptly failed to do, to the timetable they presented, then what you say might slip past. That they have fouled America in an unwinnable effort with costs that can only be described as "biblical", a bbl of oil from Iraq will the history's most expensive ever.

Regards,
etc.

It costs money to ship oil, so naturally we buy a lot from closer sources, like Canada, Mexico and Venezuela. That's why Alaskan oil goes to Japan instead of the U.S.

Saudi Arabia is high on the list because they produce so damn much oil. Also, they are the low-cost producer. When it cost 25 cents a barrel to pump, and you sell it for $90, the shipping costs are less of an issue.

And since oil is a global commodity, it doesn't matter much where it comes from.

Thanks Vern. Do you have any idea as to why Iraq has stayed at #6? I would have thought they would have gone down due to war/infrastructure problems. Or way up, if the "blood for oil" thing has weight.

The "Blood for oil" argument is poorly thought out...

nice of you to finally come around...we have been pointing out for years that the whole Iraqi debacle has been poorly thought out...

2007=$60.00

A bunch of fucking crybabies. That's what we Americans are.

Gas prices around the world

Think you pay a lot for gas? Perhaps you'd prefer to live in Venezuela.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) Gasoline prices in the United States, which have recently hit record highs, are actually much lower than in many countries. Drivers in some European cities, like Amsterdam and Oslo, are paying nearly 3 times more than those in the U.S.

money.cnn.com

Now Goatmans' last post about gas prices around the world is the most moronic I have seen in a long time.

To make such a comparison is so stupid, the rest of the world has public transportation that makes the U.S. look silly.

Now Goatmans' last post about gas prices around the world is the most moronic I have seen in a long time

Then why isn't it cheaper in NYC and WDC (indeed, it is more expensive there!) with their superior transportation system?

Just one of the American crybabies I was referring to. Grow up you sniveling spoiled brat!

Sounds like Goatman doesn't like Americans very much.

I'm not sure you turn "spoiled Americans" into "he soesn't like Americans" but then again, this is the same guy who turns shadows into spaceships. Go figure.

Goatman

I guess you don't like Americans. Sounds like you think ALL americans are spoiled.

Now tell me what American doesn't use oil and think the prices are too high---that doesn't work for an oil company---are you talking about?

Sounds like you are talking about ALL Americans to me, but you can certainly clarify. Exactly which Americans WERE you talking about? Which Americans do you think are NOT spoiled?

;-)

Amish?

Go figure.

;-)

Now tell me what American doesn't use oil and think the prices are too high---that doesn't work for an oil company---are you talking about?

you wouldn't know them, so what's the point of me listing their names?

Exactly which Americans WERE you talking about? Which Americans do you think are NOT spoiled?

The ones who whine every time gas goes up. The ones who always always expect more, more, more from Uncle Sugar. The ones who think their little Johnny in school is perfect and shouldn't be disciplined. The one's who think traffic laws don't apply to them. The ones who jump the queue in the supermarket or 7-11. The ones who are always trying to keep up with the Jones's and go into massive debt for it. The ones who were stupid enough to buy a house they couldn't afford with subprime rates who are being evicted and expect Uncle Sugar to bail them out. Fuck, I could go on and on who the spoiled Americans are, but my fingers would wear out and besides, I think there's a 4,000 word limit on a post.

Which Americans do you think are NOT spoiled?

The ones who don't fall into the above categories.

bad editing (cut and pasting) above on my part, but I think you know what I mean

Goatman

Sounds like all you don't think much of ALL Americans to me in one way or another. Every American I know falls into one or more of those categories.

Tell me who they are---not who they aren't.

;-)

Sounds like all you don't think much of ALL Americans to me in one way or another.

Allow me to correct you for the second time on this point. I did not say "I don't think much of all Americans (or any Americans FTM)" I said, "I think they are spoiled".

Every American I know falls into one or more of those categories.

We run in different circles. I know very few Americans who fall into any of those categories.

Good. You guys can keep me entertained while I sit here at the table and finishing some paperwork.

Now where's my popcorn?

Goatman

Yeah, but aren't you connected with oil companies in some way?

You still haven't named the Americans who don't fall into those categories except your buddies. Any LARGE groups? say more than 50,000?

Just trying to find out who these unspoiled Americans are that you are talking about. Who are they?

;-)

Califchris

How about you? Do you fall into any of Goatmans categories? Are you happy with gas prices and think the gas companies are doing the best they can to keep prices fair?

. Any LARGE groups? say more than 50,000?

First of all it would be hard to find a common group with a common name of that size outside of the inhabitants of specific geographic locale. Secondly if I did it would be highly unlikely that at least one of them did not possess at least one of the properties I described.

Besides, I don't believe in stereo typing even though I have very occaisionally found myself guilty of it.

Yeah, but aren't you connected with oil companies in some way?

You know that I am. And . . .?

Goatman

Why do you lie when your posts are there for anyone to look at? Do you think the whole world is stupid? Probably.

No.

The whole world is not stupid.

You didn't just call All Americans spoiled, you called us---"whiny'---a bunch of fucking crybabies---remember? It wasn't all that long ago.

A bunch of fucking crybabies. That's what we Americans are.

I think you need to be more honest with yourself and those around you.

For example:
The one's who think traffic laws don't apply to them.

Know anyone who's ever driven over the speed limit? I suppose that everyone you know gladly accepts it when they get a parking ticket.

The ones who always always expect more, more, more from Uncle Sugar.

Whether it's more Welfare, more Medicare or more Homeland Security and surveillance or more free roads and tax breaks. If you look, you'll find this pretty much covers everyone.

The ones who are always trying to keep up with the Jones's and go into massive debt for it.

You would really be in denial if you say you don't know anyone who does this. It's what keeps the American economy rolling.

Goatman

I would bet that most are associated with oil companies also.

Why do you lie when your posts are there for anyone to look at?

Yes, and where is the lie?

Nihilist, you posted the quote: "I know very few Americans who fall into any of those categories."

But, then you go on and on about NOT KNOWING any persons in the categories you listed ...

Are you actually this stupid? Or, are you Bob, under another name ... and already confirmed to be?

The ones who are always trying to keep up with the Jones's and go into massive debt for it.

You would really be in denial if you say you don't know anyone who does this.

Well, bOoB, again you proven your irrationality. I am not in debt except for a small mortgage on one of my houses. I don't have a car note, no consumer loans, I pay my insurance every six months vs monthly, my credit cards every month. Outside about $30,000 left on a mortgage, I am debt free.

And no, I can't really say I know anyone who is foolish enough to go into debt simply to "keep up with the Jones.

I'd say you are wrong.

Like I just mentioned on the other thread tonight -- I'm doing paperwork so I planned on only being a "popcorn" audience tonight but I'll answer this one for you. No, I'm not happy about the price of gas because I live in California where there is NO decent public transportation and the little there is leaves you off miles from where you need to go.

Since I am forced to use a car for all transportation-- and my corner gas station is now $3.36 per gal. (self-serve, regular, unleaded) -- it gets costly. When I used to work and drive to downtown L.A. the gas was much cheaper.

I agree with someone's( (?) other post further up the thread that Americans can't fairly be called selfish compared to Europe because Europe has first rate public transportation. California is joke. What state do you live in, BBob? Is good public transportion nearby for you or is your city as bad as mine.

I'll just read your answer but not post back. If I stop now to jump in on the thread I'll never get this paperwork out of the way (cards to send, check for the gardener, cable payment, internet Christmas gifts to order, forms to fill out, boring but gotta be done!)

But, please guys, keep me entertained! *grin*

But, then you go on and on about NOT KNOWING any persons in the categories you listed ...

Please provide the time stamp where I said that, Tad. I believe you are mistaken.

My post seems pretty clear to me.

OK Goat, we've determined you don't hate all Americans, just the vast majority of them.

Yes, I called Americans whiny. I called Americans spoiled. I did not deny either statement. Where is the lie? Is it a lie that I used two different adjectives? You're stretching, bOoB.

Well, bOoB, again you proven your irrationality.

Goatman challenges, "Please provide the time stamp where I said that, Tad. I believe you are mistaken."

Do you know what you said? How about considering that I left the italics terminator off of the end of your quote, and that the rest was between me and Nihilist?

Next time you decide to read something I've written (although you have said you don't), I suggest you read it with a bit more effort to understand what is being said ...

Ask Bob about time stamps, or go suck your thumb ...

And you ,again have proven your reading comprehension skills.

I've proven them many times, sometimes to the great surprise of my teachers. I was reading at a 4th grade level the day I entered 1st grade.

But at 52, I do not need my ego stroked about it any more TFD. Thanks anyhow.

BTW TFD, still waiting to see you prove your reading comprehension by telling me the time stamp of the quote where I said I hated any American.

Thanks, Einstein.

The term "very few" does not in any way mean that that person does NOT KNOW anyone in those categories!

My word, you are a Bob clone, after all!

Don't forget--"A bunch of fucking crybabies". I think you referred to all Americans on that one. Even the itty bitty babies.

Oh my god. I responded to the wrong person. The first on a blog to ever do that. So sue me.

Goatman never said he hated all Americans---he just said all Americans were a bunch of fucking crybabies.

I guess he was talking about his buddy Tadowe too. Birds of a feather shit in the woods.

That was for you CC

And again. Do you actually read other posts, or do you just skim over them quickly, as they are just obstacles in your way to more babbling?

I'm still waiting for the time stamp of the quote where I said I hate Americans (any number). You quoted me as saying that. Please answer, and I'll be glad to get back to your requests.

Oh, I get it. You lied and you can't provide that quote, but you are desperately try to save face by questioning my reading comprehension and accuse me of babbling. What a loser.

Gee, bOoB, that zinger required an intellectual capacity that I assumed died with Einstein. You hurt me to the bone.

Excuse me while I bawl my eyes out.

Nihilist quibbles, "I never said it did."

You are a DUMMY -- I said you did!

I took this rhetorical and inaccurate sentence:

"Know anyone who's ever driven over the speed limit? I suppose that everyone you know gladly accepts it when they get a parking ticket."

A blatant misrepresentation (read: lie) about what was said by your target to vilify! You infer that he is claiming NOT TO KNOW any of those in that category!

From that, *anyone* can deduce that you DID say that ... because YOU DID SAY IT!

"What I did say, is that if he took a long, close look at those very few he'd find that he was either in denial about them or they keep it hidden, but I would bet they fall in those categories."

You are actually pathetic, and I'll be leaving you alone. Stick with Bob, he's your speed ...

Better abandon that application at the UN and keep your day job. I think it's safe to say interpretation is not your forte.

You infer that he is claiming NOT TO KNOW any of those in that category!

No, I admit that he feels the vast majority of Americans are whiny babies. So I assume he knows plenty.

If you want to have a discussion about what I said or whether it was worded properly that is one thing, but your style leaves much to be desired. Do you treat everyone else you encounter in your life like that?

Thanks for the entertainment, people. Figured I would chime in with this one:

We is you and who else? How did y'all determine this?

Posted by goatman

A conversation takes 2 people. Me and You, hence "we".

Sorry, TFD, you seem to have your grammar all mixed up.

You say "we've determined you don't hate all Americans, just the vast majority of them."

Obviously Goatman never determined any such thing. Since you said that "we" includes you and him, and he in fact doesn't apply to your statement, then that just leaves "you".

Conclusion: YOU have determined this alone, which simply leaves it up to the reader to determine if your determination is worth accepting or not.

I think it's safe to say interpretation is not your forte.

;-)

. . .are whiny babies. So I assume he knows plenty.

The DR is full of them. But then, it is a left leaning blog, so that would make it statistically skewed.

I think it's safe to say interpretation is not your forte.

So am I to assume then that you like whiny babies. That is why you were ranting against them.

And you still have not recanted this statement:

You lied and you can't provide that quote, but you are desperately try to save face by questioning my reading comprehension and accuse me of babbling. What a loser.

When I have proven that I mentioned your reading comprehension skills before you called me a lair.

I think it's safe to say interpretation is not your forte.

Says the man who claims to rely on facts and reason yet refuses to look at opposing videos.

You're gonna have to help me here. I'm failing to make the connection between "interpretation" and "viewing" videos because I don't have 3 or 4 spare hours to devote to it. Help me here.

So am I to assume then that you like whiny babies.

Some of them I do. My son used to be one, but I never stopped loving him more than anything else on this planet.

You really need to expand your mind and stop making these idiotic illogical associations.

Goatman

You don't need no help from a Whiny American Crybaby do you?

youtube.com

;-)

You don't need no help from a Whiny American Crybaby do you?

Depends who it is. Who is it?

PS, watch that double negative thingy. That's like fingers on a blackboard to me. Thanks.

Since you said that "we" includes you and him, and he in fact doesn't apply to your statement, then that just leaves "you".

I admit I was assuming that Goatman had come to the same conclusion that I had. But since I was basing my opinion on things he said I still hold to that assumption.

Although we differ on the term "hate", we have determined that Goat thinks the vast majority of Americans are:
A bunch of fucking crybabies. That's what we Americans are.

I notice he has no problem that I am a part of his "we".

More "interpretation" I guess. I never said, nor hinted, at "vast majority" of Americans. Those are your words, not mine.

As I said, keep your day job. Interpretation doesn't become you.

Please, do me a favor and stop "interpreting" and stick to what I say when you want to attribute something to me. OK?

I notice he has no problem that I am a part of his "we".

Actually I did question it in my 5:45 post. Guess you skimmed over it or your reading comprehension is to be desired --- or something like that you accused me of anyway.

I know very few Americans who fall into any of those categories.

Posted by goatman

Who is the opposite end of those "very few"?

It's the "vast majority"

I think my interpretation skills are doing just fine.

But since I was basing my opinion on things

Actually you were basing it on your INTERPRETATION of things he said. He obviously interprets what he said differently. And considering they were his words I would be inclined to listen to his interpretation more than others.

Who is the opposite end of those "very few"?

It's the "vast majority"

I think my interpretation skills are doing just

fine.

Actually no, they are still failing. Or at least your logic is. Just because I know "very few" leaves 99.9% of all Americans.

Now if I knew ALL americans your leap of logic would be correct. But since I know less than .001% of all Americans, your logic is faulty.

Now it's my turn to quote Larry .

Well, no need to be redundant, so I won't

OK Goat, we've determined you don't hate all Americans, just the vast majority of them.

No, here you question my use of the word "we".

I said:

I notice he has no problem that I am a part of his "we".

Posted by TFDNihilist

Referring to the time you said:

A bunch of fucking crybabies. That's what we Americans are.

posted by Goatman

See, I was talking about you including me by using the word "we" in that sentence. I was not referring to your challenge to the word "we" in my statement.

Once again...keep trying.

I have to go to my post-tour meeting in a few minutes. But if you wish to continue the drubbing, I'll be glad to continue administering it after my meeting and dinner, nihilist.

I notice he has no problem that I am a part of his "we".

You are relying on a faulty premise (i.e. inclusion in one situation is the same as inclusion in another).

Just because he didn't have a problem with you and he being included as "we" for one statement doesn't mean that he agrees that a separate statement likewise groups you.

Now if I knew ALL americans your leap of logic would be correct.

So you are saying that you don't know if Americans are whiny babies or not? That is the your own logic. Since then your original quote was:

A bunch of fucking crybabies. That's what we Americans are.

posted by Goatman

And you are now telling me that that pertains only to people you personally know. Am I now to assume that only you (since I am not included in that "we") and those that you know are these crybabies of which you speak?
But since you then say:
I know very few Americans who fall into any of those categories.

Posted by goatman

I get really confused. Who are you talking about? Who are these crybabies?

Actually you were basing it on your INTERPRETATION of things he said.
Posted by moomanfl

Yes, I've said that all along. I have denied quoting him from the start.

And Goaty, I'm still waiting for that retraction.

But if you wish to continue the drubbing, I'll be glad to continue administering it after my meeting and dinner, nihilist.

Posted by goatman

I really don't see it. You are running circles, and I still haven't gotten my retraction for the accusations I have proven wrong without doubt. If I'm here, I'll see you later.

I'll refresh your memory.
The original accusation:
You lied and you can't provide that quote, but you are desperately try to save face by questioning my reading comprehension and accuse me of babbling. What a loser.

Posted by goatman

***
My proof against that statement. Notice times in bold.

And you ,again have proven your reading comprehension skills.

Posted by TFDNihilist at 2007-12-04 05:24 AM

Where did I say I hate ANY Americans, TFD? Please provide the time stamp to that quote.

Posted by goatman at 2007-12-04 05:25 AM

I was magically able to insult your comprehension skills a full minute before you asked me to provide the quote.

Your retraction please.

"The US is one of the last "advanced" countries on the planet that can't solve its political issues regarding the death penalty."

What is there to solve? We've left it up to states. Many states are bigger than most of the "advanced" countries you would name. Democracy works best when decisions are made on a smaller scale.

These students learned a lesson much more valuable than they could possibly have imagined. They learned about the type of world they live in. They learned about intolerance and ignorance and how it can easily destroy the lives of individuals.

They learned to fear the power of the fascist islamic state and what it can do to individual freedoms.

The "War On Terror" won't be won until someone can start a line of teddy bears named Mohammed and a line of T-shirts with a cartoon of Mohammed on it and sell them in the ME with out fear of losing their life over it.

No, I don't think so. I think the new teacher will be in there spinning it so that the lesson reads, "don't fuck with Allah"

No...think again Goatboy... kids are smarter than you think... and as for the teacher, well, sadly, she had to get the fuck out of THAT monkey house with her skin while she still had some left.

Wine and beer and flowers for everyone! This story had a semi happy ending...

... kids are smarter than you think...

And very brutal.
Remember your student teacher substitutes?
The ones you reduced to hysteria?

But who are the assholes with machetes in the video?

Actually, in point of fact, Spud had managed to fergit all about them subs wot Spud sunk until Zat is remind Spud.

Damn, Deth was nasty Spud back in the day!

Now Spud feels all guilty and stuff.

Spuddish shout to Mrs H back in grade 8.

Spud is sooooooo sorry 'bout that!

S'rsly!

Be Well.

We actually did that once. Ms. Welch. 8th grade English. She was substituting for Mr. Shannon who took ZERO crap from students, so we were really pent up. We were discussing Pearl Buck's "The Good Earth". We got everyone to drop their books on the floor simultaneously on the floor. After the third time she started bawling and went into her life history. At one point she said she was a "silly saleswoman". Steve Barnes asked, "What did you do, sell sillies?". She left the room in tears.

I don't think she was cut out to teach Junior high kids

But when Mr. Shannon returned and found out, everyone of us had to hand transcribe, by hand, the first 100 pages of The Good Earth or get a zero as a test grade. Today, that would probably get him fired for student abuse.

"She left the room in tears. "

I knew we had something in common.

Spuddish shout to Mrs H back in grade 8.

Just run down the hall and tell it to her face.

Spuddish shout to Mrs H back in grade 8.

Ms. Welch. 8th grade English

It sounds like 8th graders are assholes in Canada just like the US.

But, at least the US educated eighth grader didn't grow up to post as a childish and annoying third person.
