Come on BL2 -- if there were millions of 2nd amendment conservative votes even out there -- duncan hunter would be in the top tier.

I hate to break it to you BL2 but Rudy's strategy is working -- he decided to basically ignore the conservative base by appealing to all us GOP moderates in the big more urban states with lots of delegates -- he bet correctly that the conservatives would split their vote among Huckabee, Romney, McCain and Thompson - which left Rudy locking up the center -- the people that conservatives denigrate as RINO's -- but guess what -- we vote in the GOP primary's too.

And now that Huckabee threatens to destroy Romney and thompson in Iowa and SC but doesn't have the organization or appeal to win in the big states on Feb 5th -- the field is perfectly positioned for Rudy/Huckabee 2008

many people here have been making fun of me for over 10 months over my support for Rudy -- I have lost count on how many times I've been told that Rudy was doomed and should be long gone by now-- and nobody except me predicted that he would be at the top of the polls at this late date. or would get the GOP nomination.

So so far the only people who have been in fantasy land are the Lefties here who claim to know what the GOP is really about and yet have so far been proven wrong over and over again.

There is a groundswell of support fer this notion Spud is aware but Spud maintains that he won't and that even if he did he would draw his voting base more from disaffected non voters than from either the Dem or Rep side.

Well I'm a Republican and I've been saying for months that if Rudy doesn't get the nomination but Romney does and Obama is the dem nominee -- then I am going to have a hard time voting for Romney.

Obama is a very likeable candidate -- he's honest, and authentic -- and I believe that if he becomes President and soon realizes that diplomacy is impossible against Islamic Jihadists because they view him as an apostate -- which would even deepen their hatred of America (if that is even possible) -- that he will be forced to take a hard line in the Middle east -- and the Democrats would then be forced to get on board unifying the nation behind a basically neo-con agenda.

My big dilemna of course is over federal courts and SCOTUS appointments and there is no doubt in my mind that Obama would try to move the court to the Left.

But I think Romney is just a big sleazy phoney in the mold of Bill Clinton -- so I don't know what I would do if its Obama vs Romney. I guess I would hope that Bloomberg gets in as an indepependent and then I would vote for him.

But Noonan is right -- An Obama candidacy creates a real problem for the GOP, while Hillary would unify the party against her no matter who the GOP candidate is.

BTW: I know people scoff at my "apostate" comment -- but as the son of a muslim, who then chose of his own accord to be Christian when he was an adult, Obama is an "apostate" in the eyes of Muslims and under Sharia law that is punishable by death. Given that thousands of Muslim exremists are calling for the death of a teacher over the naming of a teddy bear -- it is not unreasonable to think that an Obama Presidency whereby the "great satan" would now be led by an apostate would not amplify the Jihad by muslim extremists against the US.

Yes, under Sharia law the son is the born with the same religion as the father. Whether the father was a practicing muslim or not is irrelevant -- he was a muslim and so his son was.

When Obama became an adult and actually chose to become a "christian' of his own free will, he became an apostate under Sharia law which is punishable by death.

Of course, nothing would make Lefites in the US finally stop defending Jihadists in their hatred of America, then if they started railing against a President Obama, the apostate, whicn is even worse then if he was just an "infidel" -- so I don't think an Obama presidency would be a bad thing for America and may even unify the country in the war on terror.

I like Obama! I have not made my choice quite yet. I like negotiating instead of war.
Americans are united on the war on terror. Bowa where have you been. We are not united on how we deal with the problem.
That is a problem in a democracy, people can disagree.
You may think that sucks, I do not.
We lefties do try to understand Jihadists in their hatred of America, we read the history of the region and try to understand our enemy and why they hate us.
What we do not defend are their methods.

Obama, as attractive as he may be is just not experienced enough to be President in this cycle given the hole the country is in, and that will be the spin the GOP does him in with.
