As New York mayor, Rudy Giuliani billed obscure city agencies for tens of thousands of dollars in security expenses amassed during the time when he was beginning an extramarital relationship with future wife Judith Nathan in the Hamptons, according to previously undisclosed government records.

Giuliani Hid Booty Call Expenses

Booty Call Rudy?

Now that is disgusting..

Anton - what costs are you referring to that Clinton passed on to the taxpayers? The cigar? The pizza? What?

When all the neocons flee the Giuliani campaign's stinking hulk like rats off a sinking ship, who'dya think they'll latch onto next?

Anagram fun:

Rudy William Louis Giuliani:

"I aid ill will; I'm a ruinous guy"

Will Pat Robertson withdraw his endorsement after all his smarmy sex behavior comes to light?

Check this one out:
Republican presidential candidate Rudolph W. Giuliani has close ties to a Catholic priest accused of sexually molesting boys and who also was the lawyer for a now-closed Whitinsville counseling house for troubled priests that has been described as the center of a pedophile sex ring.

Clinton got a hummer in the office. As a taxpayer, I helped pay for "the room."

Peronsally, I wouldn't have allowed Monica Lewinsky to blow me for free. I'm pissed that I helped pay for her to blow Clinton.I think people who live in NY should be ticked about this and people who intend to vote in the next presidential election ought to take it into account.

what a piece of crap he is. this no character piece os dirt is not tolerable as an agent of the public trust. when are all of the crooks going to be purged?

There is a pattern of pretty clueless behavior in this man. He'll add this to his list of "mistakes" and tell us he learned from his experience.

But the list is getting longer.

"Clinton got a hummer in the office. As a taxpayer, I helped pay for "the room."

So, in other words, you paid nothing at all extra, since you were "paying" for that room whether he was getting a hummer, beating off, or maybe staring at the wall like Bush does? I'll have your $0 rebate sent right away.

There is no excuse. To say that Clinton or anyone else did the same or worse and use that to somehow excuse his behavior is an argument for 12 year olds.

The cheating on the wife is one thing. But hiding the costs and letting the city pay for it should not be excused. It goes to character. Why would you ever trust somoene who would lie like this? If he would cheat his wife or the city, he would cheat the nation.

Too bad the debate tonight is pre-scripted. I wonder if anyone will ask him about this.

At one time in the not too distant past any one of these stories would have forced the candidate to drop out. Anyone remember Gary Hart and Monkey Business Affair?

So, in other words, you paid nothing at all extra, since you were "paying" for that room whether he was getting a hummer, beating off, or maybe staring at the wall like Bush does? I'll have your $0 rebate sent right away.

You sure you don't mean your Playstation 3?

Amazing....when Billy C was humping interns and beating up women and snorting coke with his brother - all on the public dime - you guys say "well EVERYONE DOES IT"

Now it Rudy with his girl friend - not with some hooker like Billy the C and its "Scum Bag"

Amazing

I don't remember Clinton charging the taxpayers for his booty call.

I do remember the over 50 MILLION DOLLARS that the right spent on getting him to admit to a blowjob.

Fiscal Conservatives? Bullshit.

Huh? Reputable link? You're high, dude. Get back in your trailer before your sister-mom gets home.

Hummm...calling the Republicans out on spending 50 Million on the investigation...try these numbers on for size: (everything in " or ( I inserted)

Five-year cost of spending authorizations passed by the "Democratic lead" House this year:
$787,112,870,000.00*

Five-year cost of non-defense spending authorizations passed by the House this year:
$146,130,000,000.00** (Can we say socialism and redistribution of wealth?)

One-year cost of appropriations passed by the House this year:
FY 2007: $587,786,000,000.00 (50M is =.00000008%)
FY 2008: $124,157,000,000.00

This spending spree is brought to you by House Democrats, who passed the largest tax
increase in American history to fuel their spending ways:
Overall cost to American taxpayers: $392,000,000,000.00
Cost to individual American taxpayers: $3,026

And you call Republican's on fiscal conservatism?

The cheating on the wife is one thing. But hiding the costs and letting the city pay for it should not be excused. It goes to character. Why would you ever trust somoene who would lie like this? If he would cheat his wife or the city, he would cheat the nation.

First, by the time Rudy even met Judy his marriage was already on the outs and had been for two years. So there is no comparsion to the "cheating" that Bill did on Hillary.

2nd, High profile politicians like a mayor of a city of 9 million people, a governor, even some senators and congressmen have a right to be provided 24/7 security details when they travel.

3rd, such expenses that on the public dime should be available to the public for scrutiny at all times so that voters can determine how the president, mayor, governor, or legislator was doing "the peopepl's business" on their dime.

4th, to the comment above as to "how ould you trust someeone who would lie like this" -- I don't see any lying by anyone yet. But I do think that Rudy needs to fully explain these expenses at the earliest opportunity.

This could be very damaging to Rudy. And if it turns out he was just billing the city so he could hook up with his girlfriend that would show an arrogance and contempt for voters that is equal to that of the Clintons.

My dad became the unexpected boss in his office because the person who had been expected to be promoted into that position had cheated on some expense reports to give himself an extra couple of hundred bucks -- he threw his whole career away fro chump change. My Dad, who was the only one who had taken all the necessary exams to qualify for the position (because nobody else thought they should bother since this other guy was such a shoo-in for the position) was immediately promoted to district supervisor.

And when I look at people like that guy in my Dad's office, or Kerik, or Clinton, or Martha Stewart and now possibly Rudy -- it just reminds me that even the richest, best and brightest among us can be so unbelievably small and petty - that they would throw everything away over nothing.

honestly who likes this guy? besides the mob on golf carts - who likes him? and why? he's a total dick.

Monte - the trouble with your request is that the stuff you would consider reputable (CNN, NBC, CBS) would never have ANYTHING bad about the Clintons (remember it had to be the National Inquire to break the Monica story) - but I am sure you will remember:

Juanita Broaddrick (rape), Gennifer Flowers (paid for an abortion - Jan, 1978), Bobbie Ann Williams (probably had a child with in 1984-85)Paula Jones - who Bill lies when he says he has never met her;

As for the Coke "Dr. Sam Houston, a respected Little Rock physician says it is well known in Little Rock medical circles that Clinton was brought to a Little Rock hospital for emergency treatment for an apparent cocaine overdose.

According to Houston, Clinton arrived at the hospital with the aid of a state trooper. Hillary Clinton had been notified by phone and had instructed the hospital staff that Clinton's personal physician would be arriving soon.

When Mrs. Clinton arrived, she told both of the resident physicians on duty that night that they would never again practice medicine in the United States if word leaked out about Clinton's drug problem. Reportedly, she pinned one of the doctors up against the wall, both hands pressed against his shoulders, as she gave her dire warning.

Of course there is always the "Investors Business Daily"

10/30/96 Investors Business Daily editorial "Sally Perdue, a former Miss Arkansas and Little Rock talk show host who said she had an affair with then-Gov. Clinton in 1983, told the London Sunday Telegraph that he once came over to her house with a bag full of cocaine. ''He had all the equipment laid out, like a real pro.''

A president that would get a blow job in the WHITE HOUSE, his brother a convicted for drug posession and distribution and THOUSANDS of reports of his drug use...but if it ain't CNN (Clinton News Network) it isn't credible. Open your eyes and use what is between your ears for more than a hat rack

"Clinton Clinton, CLINTON!"

To paraphrase some apologists for Bush:

Bill wasn't cheating on Hill if he didn't know he was doing anything "wrong". The nature of the two's relationship is likely beyond what you and I want to know.

To use it to deflect ("Clinton, Clinton, CLINTON!") what is clearly defrauding the public purse (let alone adultery no matter what you say - the wife hadn't let him off the leash shall we say) is the very antithesis of what a GOP-er is (supposedly) all about, eh?

P.S. "9-11 9-11 9-11 9-11 America's Mayor wishes you a Happy 9-11 ....oh well uh...just remember I am the Rudy."
Regards,
etc.

Perfect - bullshit. This just goes to BIAS!

"How can you trust (Rudy)...this goes to character" - it was you and your ilk that use to say "Character doesn't matter" when it was Billy the C. Double Standard.

Foshaffer:
"Amazing....when Billy C was humping interns and beating up women and snorting coke with his brother."

Of course, you just spewed two outrageous, damned lies, but don't let that stop you.

oops! I just read your: "...it was you and your ilk that use to say "Character doesn't matter..."

Make that three outrageous, damned lies. But,please continue. I didn't know Karl Rove felt the need to troll this board.

Foshaffer:
"...and THOUSANDS of reports of his drug use..."

"When Mrs. Clinton arrived, she told both of the resident physicians on duty that night that they would never again practice medicine in the United States if word leaked out about Clinton's drug problem."

Shit, your entire 8:18 post is one big rumor with no fact in it whatsoever. I stopped counting your lies at an even dozen. Any more stuff from "The Clinton Chronicles"?

re Foshaffer's 7:59 post:
half a quadrillion dollars in one-year appropriations?

Since that would be...oh, wildly exaggerating the figure more than the entire fiscal budget by...what? a factor of...at least a thousand, your lies are more ridiculous by the sentence. Hey, if you're gonna lie, at least try to make it SEEM credible.

Huckabee had a great answer on the bible question

Clinton was working the phones while Monica was working him.

Clinton was working the phones while Monica was working him.

Multitasking is incomprehensible to Republicans.

Sambarber,

1) The numbers quoted were from the CBO - so No Lie.

2) The Thousands of reports were from the multiple State Troupers, girl friends, and many many others that hung around the C man during his years in Little Rock. There have been hundreds of books written about this. I posted what I could find the quickest. Unlimited Access: An FBI Agent Inside the Clinton White House - Page 111
by Gary Aldrich - Political Science - 1996 is one I would recommend

3. The quotes were real so A)he was humping interns, B) He did beat up women (Broaddrick testified on TV - that is an easy web look up. No lies there.

4) The issue of raising taxes

The Democrat budget released today proposes the largest tax increase in history, $392.5 billion over five years, and will "hit working families and small businesses hardest," according to U.S. Rep. Dave Camp, a senior member of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee.
In addition to higher marginal tax rates, which would raise taxes by $182 billion, the Democrat budget calls for:

A reduction of Child Tax Credit ($27 billion);

An increase in the Marriage Penalty ($13 billion); and,

An increase in the Death Tax ($91 billion).

To pay for massive spending increases, the Democrat budget also increases Capital Gains and Dividends Tax Rates to raise an additional $32.5 billion, and increases miscellaneous taxes by $47 billion to further pad federal coffers.

The Democrat budget increases taxes by wiping out tax cuts enacted under the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act Of 2001 (EGTRRA) and the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act Of 2003 (JGTRRA).

You and others have been so used by the Clinton machine and it has taken what used to be a good - middle of the road - party (DEMS especially the old Southern Democrats) into an Anti- American (Harry Reid waiving the white flag of surrender), Socialistic (Edwards would MANDATE public health care - Hillary would not MANDATE she would just not give you any other choice- so much for capitalism and freedom of choice) and Anti-God party.

Step back and see how many times any Dem party leader uses the words - "Freedom" - "Capitalism" and "God"

Hey, Forshame-60%of the Federal debt since 1776 was created under three Republican presidents-Reagan, Bush1 and Bush2. Clinton was the last president since at least the 1960s to run a surplus.
And win two wars doing it.

I think most Americans would prefer all that and Clinton getting a bj to the debt creating/wars losing self-admitted dry drunk and coke head deserter we have ass raping us in the WH right now.

Shaffer, you're a true believer, even down to calling the estate tax the death tax, I wonder if you plan on leaving several million dollars to Paris Shaffer or somebody, if so perhaps you can be excused, otherwise STFU.

All your stuff is cut and pasted crap from Newsmax. You swallow it all whole and regurgitate it to anywhere you think will listen. Wrong place, pal. Try some of the wackoid rightwing blogs. Their gullets have also been conditioned by constant Koolaid intake just like yours has so they'll be able to swallow these lies whole too.

Meanwhile, back to Rudy. Do you seriously want this guy as your candidate? I mean, seriously.

I've got a debate question for Rudy --

"Do you EVER keep your pants zipped?"

To you all..

"You're so concerned with squabbling for the scraps from Longshank's table that you've missed your God given right to something better."

Rudy Giuliani billed obscure city agencies for tens of thousands of dollars in security expenses amassed during the time when he was beginning an extramarital relationship . . .

Rudy has an ailment peculiar to neo-cons.

In my best Keith Olberman impersonation:

HE THINKS NOBODY IS GOING TO FIND OUT

JSPRAGUE

you've missed your God given right to something better.

We know, but you're about 7 years too late with your advice.

We know, but you're about 7 years too late with your advice.

Its never too late!

His boinking of Nathan cost him his 2000 shot at the Senate.

Loooks like it may cost him his 2008 shot at the WH. That and working for the mob.

"You're so concerned with squabbling for the scraps from Longshank's table that you've missed your God given right to something better."

This line from Braveheart reminded me that Longshanks' useless son was not producing an heir with the French princess he had married because he was spending so much time with his male "friend". To remind him of his duty, Longshanks, provoked beyond endurance, picked up the "friend" and threw him out the high window in the castle. The princess ended up with Mel who had no problem impregnating her. I know there's a parallel here with Bush 41, Bush 43, Cheney, Giuliani and the GOP but I can't quite bring it to mind.

Why is the current Comptroller investigating rather insignificant costs of a mayor who left office nearly 7 years ago? We'll never know who is behind this, but Alan Hevesi certainly had access...

He'll never get the nomination.

So, in other words, you paid nothing at all extra, since you were "paying" for that room whether he was getting a hummer, beating off, or maybe staring at the wall like Bush does? I'll have your $0 rebate sent right away.

Posted by mOntecOre at 2007-11-28 06:34 PM | Reply

I guess you're right, in a sense. Clinton sticking a Swisher Sweet in a fat Jewish girl's twat was probably more socially beneficial than anything Bush has done in the oval office in 7 years. However, I'd like to think that since I was "paying for the room" anyway that more important things were being done. Clinton could have just finished his professional duties in the oval office and then marched over to the living quarters to give the high hard one to Hillary. Ahem.

You can keep the rebate. It's Christmas.

"The expenses first surfaced as Giuliani's two terms as mayor of New York drew to a close in 2001, when a city auditor stumbled across something unusual: $34,000 worth of travel expenses buried in the accounts of the New York City Loft Board.

When the city's fiscal monitor asked for an explanation, Giuliani's aides refused, citing "security," said Jeff Simmons, a spokesman for the city comptroller."

The Loft Board?! Something was "up" all right, ask Judith or Donna, but it wasn't in the loft.

"Citing security". And there was I thinking that Giuliani's decision to run as "Bush on steroids" was a recent one.

He'll never get the nomination.

Posted by wisgod

Bush did.

And AGAIN, Foshaffer, I call you out as a liar. Appropriations can't be half a quadrillion dollars. The annual budget isn't even that much. You mention CBO? Give us a link.

And quoting a hack job of a book that relied on other web sites and web sites? EVIDENCE, man! Were any charges filed against Clinton for the things you allege? No. Not. Nada. Zip.

And lastly, raising taxes. After Bush II, we will have to both raise taxes and cut spending or we'll be a debtor nation for along, long time. These things have to happen when you have a president who turns over foreign policy spending to KBR and never vetoed anything for six years.

But continue to spin and lie. You're not entertaining or credible, but you're no worse than many other trolls on this site.

Foshitter:

www.cbo.gov

Click on "data"...it's an .xls file, Cell 24E
"2006 Outlays--ACTUAL"

shows 2.65 trillion dollars spent in 2006...only 1/250 of the number you made up.

Waiting for an apology, or you can just slink away...

DR'ers: check out that same table I linked to above, for some wildly optimistic projections about huge rises in income tax revenues and miraculous reductions of national debt.

RudiG/Vitter: Could be a great team. "Best Bangers for Your Buck 2008." "I did not have sex with that woman. The other three yes, but not her".

On Tuesday, the day Vitter was subpoenaed by the former owner of an escort service to which he has been linked, lexander (R) and outgoing Gov. Kathleen Blanco were all there.

But then again, Thursday was the day Hustler magazine provided advance copies to the media of its upcoming January issue featuring the former prostitute who claims she provided services to Vitter in 1999, the year he won a House race in a special election.

Vitter's Washington-based defense lawyer, Henry Asbill, didn't return phone calls or an email message from the Sleuth requesting comment on how the senator plans to respond to the subpoena. Served by Deborah Jeane Palfrey, who ran the escort service Pamela Martin & Associates in Washington for more than a decade, the subpoena calls on Vitter to testify in U.S. District Court on Nov. 28.

Maybe Bowa can explain why RudiG has such a hard time telling the truth;

His real subject is himself, and he brooks little criticism. When I asked him if it was true, as I had read, that he fired William Bratton as police commissioner because Bratton was getting too much credit for New York's drop in crime, he replied, "I didn't fire him. He resigned."

Then he acknowledged that "we had some differences about the publicity operation in the police department. I thought after three years that it was time for new leadership."

First, by the time Rudy even met Judy his marriage was already on the outs and had been for two years. So there is no comparsion to the "cheating" that Bill did on Hillary.

Since when does being "on the outs" mean it's OK to cheat on the missus?

Giuliani responded to press accounts of his relationship with Nathan by announcing his separation from wife Donna Hanover -- *before* telling Hanover! This is not an aspect of his life that can be defended. Better to stick to the "no one is perfect" argument.

At the time, the mayor's office refused to explain the accounting to city auditors, citing "security."

Well, in a sense...

Spud means that if his wife at the time found out wot a cheating louse Rudy was she mighta cut his philandering dick off at the root and tied it to a balloon or sommat.

Spud would luff to see Rudeboy take the stand on this...

Prosecuter: Mr Guiliani, this bill fer a gimp suit, a box of condoms and a jumbo sized container of astroglide that you billed to the US taxpayer... What was it really for?

Rudy: 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11

Well, at least he used lube when he was screwing over the taxpayers.

That was thoughtful of him, eh Bowa?

Bowa's mini series of apologies fer Rudy literally boggles Spud's mind.

Not suprising but definitely boggling!

Be Well.

First, by the time Rudy even met Judy his marriage was already on the outs and had been for two years. So there is no comparsion to the "cheating" that Bill did on Hillary.

So if Bill and Hill had been having a secret tiff, Monica was okay in blowing Bill?

Wow, Bowa, you are turning yourself inside out to support this moral failure of a mayor. I suppose Newt Gingrich (R)banging his secretary during Clinton's impeachment was okay cause he was going to serve the wife divorce papers when she went to the hospital for cancer treatments anyways. Or it was okay for Bob Barr (R)to pay for an abortion cause he was divorcing his wife to marry his sweetie anyways.
I put their political affiliations in to make it easier for you to apologist their sins away.

Reading the comments on this site over the past few months, one would think that Rudy was the worst mayor NYC ever had.

it's pretty hilarious. Of course, all the "geniuses" who are attacking him here in November are just upset that Rudy has even made it this far -- since so many of them had predicted he would be long gone by now.

And every day he continues to be a front runner, I am the one who is looking smarter and smarter about the prediction I made almost a year ago now -- that Rudy would win the GOP nomination.

As to the issue at hand, I made my comments about it last night in my post of 8:10 PM. If it turns out that Rudy was directly involved in the way these expenses were handled -- and if they were handled improperly - then that could very well doom his candidacy. It seems to be a non-starter however considering that the story first broke in 2000 and never went anywhere -- but we shall see. A national campaign is a whole different animal.

Wow, Bowa, you are turning yourself inside out to support this moral failure of a mayor.

I'm not turning myself inside out at all. The facts are the facts.
The adultery charge against Giuliani is pretty lame and won't do much damage. Maybe it is in the strictest sense technocally true, but not in any emotional sense -- or common sense way for that matter. Most reasonable people know that marriages end long before either person decides to separate or divorce. And Rudy's marriage to Donna Hanover was no different then millions of other marriages in that regard - they had been cold to each other for years before he even met Judi Nathan.

Of course, that "common sense" will be lost on those on the "religious right" and the "far-left" who are so blinded by hate and ideology that they are numb to the reality of the human experience and all those complexities and nuance that form every human relationship -- especially the most intimate ones -- like marriage and family.

But like I said, most reasonable people have already given Rudy a pass on his most recent divorce which is one reason why he continues to sit at the top of the polls.

They know that Rudy's marriage was already over by all accounts by the time he met Judi Nathan in 1999 and had been for years.. By 1996, Donna had stopped using his name and was rarely seen with him in public. She even refused to say in public whether she had voted for him or not. In 2000, Rudy publicly acknowledged that he was seeking an official separation. He divorced in July 2002, and became engaged to Judi later that year. He married Judi in 2003

Here's some links to support that info:

"In 1996 his wife of 12 years, TV journalist Donna Hanover, reverted to her professional name and virtually stopped appearing publicly with her husband. In a 1997 interview, she wouldn't say whether she voted for him. So rarely are they seen together that a sighting makes headlines, as it did last May when they danced at a wedding at Gracie Mansion."
www.time.com

"Judith Nathan became a part of Mr. Giuliani's life in 1999, not long before his prostate cancer was diagnosed. " www.nytimes.com

"New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani announced Wednesday (may 2000) that he is seeking a separation agreement from his wife, actress Donna Hanover, possibly bringing to a close a tumultuous marriage that has been consistently buffeted by the rigors of public life and rumors of strife." archives.cnn.com

"Five months after his divorce from Donna Hanover, Rudy Giuliani proposed to Judi Nathan While on a business trip to Paris in November 2002....Rudy and Judi were married on May 24, 2003" marriage.about.com

I think there's a pretty big chance that Giuliani's moral lapses will bite him in the ass with social conservatives. That's not a crowd that accepts that kind of stuff as the "reality of the human experience"; unlike most Democrats who are social liberals and give people wide latitude for personal peccadilloes.

......I'm shocked Rudy was fucking a babe on the public dime......

.......I thought the Republicans only fucked male prostitutes......

.......what is he ?? ...a turncoat ??.....

the mayoral costs had nothing to do with the functions of the little-known city offices that defrayed his tabs, including agencies responsible for regulating loft apartments, aiding the disabled and providing lawyers for indigent defendants.

At the time, the mayor's office refused to explain the accounting to city auditors, citing "security."

But but but, Clinton got a blowjob. 9/11! 9/11!

I think there's a pretty big chance that Giuliani's moral lapses will bite him in the ass with social conservatives.

Rcade, I really don't think Rudy cares. If you notice, Rudy has given lip service to the social conservatives but he really hasn't gone out of his way to court them the way Romney and others have.

I think he is playing it very smart. He's carved out the GOP center for himself. He expected the other candidates to fight for the affections of the traditional & religious conservatives and weaken themselves in the process and that is exactly what is happening.

Rudy set expectations real low for him in the early states with few delegates to offer anyway. In the meantime, he put together an impressive organization in all the big delegate states where he leads by huge numbers -- couple that with his mutually beneficial alliance with Huckabee -- and the prediction I made 8 months ago about Rudy/Huckabee 2008 is looking more and more like it could become a reality.

And another thing -- I think Rudy has a good shot at winning NH --as things begin to play out -- it looks like Huckabee could take Iowa. on the Dem side , Obama could win Iowa as well.

In NH, Fred, Romney, Huckabee, and McCain will split the conservative vote leaving the GOP center all for Rudy. In the meantime, many of those NH independents who might have voted for Paul or Mccain in the primary, will likely vote Democratic to try and give Obama a win in NH as well.

The bottom line is that -- Rudy has chosen to court the GOP center because he knows that is where he can mine the most delegates from -- so he has been willing to just let the far-right go to everyone else. And so far it seems to be working, since there are still so many candidates inthe race and they are all fighting over that conservative base -- and Rudy isn't.

Rcade, also -- it's interesting how the Rudy/Huckabee alliance plays out -- Huckabee is Rudy's hedge against Romney in Iowa and Fred in South Carolina. And Rudy needs Huckabee in the general election to unify all those social conservatives he's been ignoring in the primary season.

On the ohter hand, Huckabee is likely accepting of his role as a "hedge" for Rudy with the hopes that he could build up so much momentum if he won in Iowa and South Carolina that he would become the guy to beat on Super Tuesday.

All in all, it's a win win for both Rudy and Huckabee -- if Rudy wins it all -- then Huckabee gets the VP spot. And by allying with Rudy -- he avoids Rudy's attacks -- and positions himself to win in Iowa and South Carolina and possibly take the nomination. Itr wouldbe interesting then to see if Huckabee offers Rudy the #2 spot.

For Rudy, by leaving Huckabee alone -- he gets to tag team Romney and hit him in the early primaries. And if Rudy wins, he already will have established a realtionship with Huckabbe that republicans are comfortable with thereby unifying the party.

I could see it playing out that way. But I gotta say "ugh." Giuliani would take the penchant for secrecy and the expanding executive branch of the Bush administration and crank it to 11. Makes me heart Huckabee.

I could see it playing out that way. But I gotta say "ugh." Giuliani would take the penchant for secrecy and the expanding executive branch of the Bush administration and crank it to 11. Makes me heart Huckabee.

Well Rcade, as you know I am a republican as well as a veteran -- and we are at war -- so until proof that all this "secrecy" is directed as a matter of course to silence political opponents or jail and spy on average Americans with no connection to terrorism whatsover -then I trust our governemnt, our military and our President to do the right thing.

But if Rudy loses, I could vote for Huckabee. I would have a tough time voting for Romney though -- especially if Obama wins. I guess I would just hope that Bloomberg enters the race if that happened.

"Well Rcade, as you know I am a republican as well as a veteran -- and we are at war -- so until proof that all this "secrecy" is directed as a matter of course to silence political opponents or jail and spy on average Americans with no connection to terrorism whatsover -then I trust our governemnt, our military and our President to do the right thing."

So, let's see here, perpetual war, perpetual secrecy, ..... and so how do you propose that we would ever know if this secrecy was being used for purposes other than what Congress intended....that is what oversight is all about....Hello?????
That's what FISA Courts are for.

I think there's a pretty big chance that Giuliani's moral lapses will bite him in the ass with social conservatives.

Rcade, I really don't think Rudy cares

Bowa, its the most "enthused" Party members who vote in the primaries, on either side. Evangelicals tend to be the more enthused righties. RudiG way well be playing to a moderate audience who won't have a chance to vote for him.

The NYT had an interesting article on RudiG's 2000 failed Senatorial bid. Apparently he didn't care then either. Didn't work out so well for him.

RudiG way well be playing to a moderate audience who won't have a chance to vote for him.

Why won't they have a chance to vote for him? I must have missed somthing in your argument.

All the moderate republicans I know are very enthused about a Rudy candidacy - and are looking forward to voting for him in the primary. Jsut because we are moderate doesn't mean we aren't enthused. many of us have been waiting for a loing time to finally have our party out from under the thumb of the far-right.

And now that the democrats have been hijacked by the far-left of the party you might find yourself similarly enthused in a few years if a "moderate" democrat appears on the scene.

Guiliani loves power and attention. Despite all of Bush's faults he's not a meglamaniac like Rudy. Just incompetent. Of course his incompetence has allowed the weakening of the constitution and the strengthening of the Executive office which would allow Rudy to become a full blown tyrant.

you don't need communism to get a dictator just ask Germany and Italy.

Joy.

What you Islmaofascist lovers who can't stand the idea of Rudi becoming our next Commander-in-Chef don't seem to be able to get into your noggins is this (and it's really quite simple):

Rudi is a figure imbewed with such a commanding natural genius, one who puts off the unmistakable aroma of authority, that the petty regulations and rules should not be applied to him.

Would you hold back Secretariat by slapping extra weights on her saddle?

Would you stunt the growth of a giant by fastening weights to his ears?

Would you cut short the career of a great soprano by snipping her vocal chords?

Would you forever destroy the possiblity of carnal bliss between the reigning stud and the brood mare by applying the red-hot teeth of a denutting device to his nether regions?

Why should Rudi be held accountable as the lesser beings are held accountable? Those petty rules are merely guidlines. They are intended to govern the behavior of house flies. Compared to them, Rudi is like an eagle that soars high, way up there, so very, very high in the sky.

Consider how unshellfish Rudi is: After 9/11, Rudi offered to let there be no election and he would remain in office as an unelected administrator of the nation's largest city.

Go, Rudi, go!

God Bless America's Mayor!

Besides which, and speaking of which, Rudy has already answered this. You can read it for yourself in the eloquently stated eloquence of RUDY: "DEBATE DAY DIRTY TRICK" - Giuliani Tells Katie Couric Expenses Were Handled Above board, Questions Report's Timing" at www.cbsnews.com

By placing himself in the merciless clutches of one of America's most insightful, clever, and gut-wrenching investigative reporters, and submitting to her snarling, aggressive mode of inquiry, America's Mayor has settled theissue: It was all handled above board. There's nothing to see here. Move along. End of story. Finito. Auf weidersehn. And goodbye.
