This countries infrastructure was built by taxing the rich heavily? That is over and our infrastructure is crumbling. No Industrialized country in the world has a larger percentage of education scofflaws. Gated communities are big. We are a class society, where the rich and powerful can steal, torture, kill and make war with impunity while cameras watch the average schmucks every move. When Willy Nelson is caught with a pound of pot he pays a $100 fine. But when a nigger is caught with a pound of pot he faces 5-20 years, depending on what State he lives in. I live in a home whose previous tenant did 6 years hard time for growing two pot plants in the backyard.

Europe is suffering similar problems because of an influx of poorly educated foriegners who lack the Protestant work ethic. Where the work ethic predominates, fiscally sound socialism is a good thing. The problem in this country is not welfare queens, its Corporate Kings who suck at the Government teet. I will never begrudge someone a loaf of bread. But I do begrudge the spending on National Defense whose technology is used primarily to attack other people for the sake of Corporate profits. If our weapons of mass destruction were effective it might make some sense, even though it is an abandonment of our founding principals. But they are completely ineffective against the social unrest bred by widespread poverty throughout the Muslim world, which has migrated to Western Civilization, including France and the USA.

Today spending for spendings sake is for those who finance campaigns (translation: bribe politicians). It is profit without risk for a few who buy $6 million homes to stay in one week a year while they go skiing. As Eisenhower warned us, the Republocrats have descended into this depraved behavior. When a US politician speaks about Freedom and Democracy, grab your wallet and run.

many european nations will be facing major economic stebacks in the coming decades beause of their adverseness to immigration and simple cultural adaptation. their aging population problem is much more serious than ours (but not as bad as japan's) and its coupled with an inability to harness immigration flows. the EU union and the accepting of the eastern states was a positive step but individual societies have yet figure it out. those things coupled with shit like a 52% tax rate for the average citizen in many areas to cover the elderly is not sustainable. take a look at brussels for instance.

Chirac and Sarkozy are both right wing and Chirac in both elections he won as President defeated Socialists and Fascists in the primaries.

Chirac's policies weren't socialist as if they had been then he wouldn't have had the Socialist and Communist trade unions out on the streets.

If you are going to comment on the politics of another country at least do basic research, even Wikipedia would tell you he wasn't a socialist.

The assumption that every country will have the same problems is not borne out by any research just extrapoliation that because 1 country has a problem then every one has.

First of all, name a time in US history when a thousand or more cars were torched over the course of a couple days. The answer to that question is, of course, never. When people refer to "ghettoized" areas in the US, what they really mean are predominatnly black or possibly Latino areas. Anyone who thinks that some brother is going to torch his car after he just put a ton of cash into a new set of spinners is full of crap. Nor are they going to sit idly by and let someone else do it. While the US may have problems, the american inner city is still a largely productive group, with as much interest in protecting their property as anyone else. Compare thisa to Europe, where a lot of these immigrants do not own property, they only "borrow" it from the government, and when they destroy it, they just go get more.

I am fairly certain that none of the cars getting torched belong to those doing the torching, and if something like this were to happen in the US, you'd see the guns come out in a big way.

France is one of those countries that restricts the owership of firearms, isn't it? Good way of making the law abiding people totally dependant on the state.

Plus how many other countries can boast of the college system that we have... not just the Ivy League schools, but the probably hundreds of state schools, where anyone can go to get an education if they choose too...

So, THAT'S how you answer the challenge to provide some examples of entire European Countries that are completely"fucked". How about modern, western European countries. Germany? Spain? Italy? France? How about Skandanavia? Holland?

And, btw, modern-day Slovenia is gorgeous and affluent. Croatia is doing very well, too. Hungary, too, for that matter. I've been to them all and wouldn't ever paint tham with your big "fucked" paintbrush. Considering what they went through in teh last century, I'd say they've made more progress than could ever be reasonably expected.
