If the Mormonator is so hell-bent on playing the Willie Horton card on himself, who am I to make snarky comments?

Clearly Preemption, did that sound snarky?

so he appointed the judge but now the judge is no good. Hmmm thank you on behalf of the young couple mitt, they probably deserved to die

Wow, it didn't take Rudy very long to try to take advantage of the situation. I can't see how you can hold a candidate responsible for every outcome of every decision made by every judge they appointed.

From the article, it seems that the prosecutor bears as much responsibility as the judge. There is law and precedent involved here, determining whether the judge acted inappropriately would require a lot more detailed examination of the proceedings than this article provides.

And don't forget the responsibility of the criminal. This guy is clearly a fuckhead. Obviously, he shouldn't be on the street, but that's not always obvious at the time. Killing your mother is pretty horrendous, but it's not a typical street crime, and if it's not a pattern of violent behavior, there's every reason to think it was part of some really specific psycholigical issues. Sounds to me like he should have been in a mental institution to begin with.

One homicidal maniac freed to commit more murder, and the ol' man gets his Brighams all Younged...

And you trust this guy with the button? We can never put someone in the White House with such knee jerk judgment.

Personally, I agree with Mitt, the judge should resign. And I don't hold this judge's decision against him. But I still wouldn't vote for him.

Cheap shot on Romney's part. It looks like the prosecutors failed to present the case:

In June, Tavares completed a 16-year sentence for manslaughter for killing his mother but prosecutors tried to keep him in prison for the alleged guard assaults. A district court judge approved bail of $50,000. In July, Tuttman overturned that decision and freed Tavares on personal recognizance.

The transcript of that hearing shows that prosecutors did not mention Tavares' alleged threats against Romney and others and did not ask the judge for a separate hearing on whether he would be dangerous if released while awaiting trial on the assault charges.

Yet I think of all the grease monkeys killed to keep Romney in 'Ronald Reagan Memorial Dippity Doo'.

Danni,

You should read the article. The judge followed state law. The prosecutor offered nothing that would force the judge to add bail or keep the convict behind bars.

The real issue here is not that a convict killed a couple. This will always happen unless you keep everyone in jail on life sentences or execute them. Hardly a pleasant society to live.

The issue is Romney attacked a judge he appointed. Who did her job as proscribed by law in order to keep from having to answer a difficult question. "Shit happens people, everything was done legally and by the book, sorry but the government can't protect you. We can't keep everyone convicted of a crime in jail for life and we sadly can't execute everyone either. Your best defense against crime is yourself. Don't let convicted cons into your house. Don't associate with convcited killers. Most of all don't borrow money from a convicted killer."

He is still the best candidate for the Oval Office.

"He is still the best candidate for the Oval Office."

Probably not in the top 10,000. But let's not even go there. herm

Perhaps Ewe meant one of the best Mormon candidates?

Nope, just The best. The most honest, virtuous, and good. Something the founding fathers wanted to run the country from the very beginning. The lack of family values, marriage values and general values are lacking and he will help bring them back, and yes, Mormonism instilled those virtues in him.
