Yet another example of nepotism in the Bush administration and a recess appointment. The dumbest person in my company (hey, it might even be me) would know without hesitation that such a costume would be very, very offfensive. Black face? Prison togs?

I really don't get it.. well, yes, after six year, I do... Are these candidates and appointees really the best suited for their positions and potential positions? Monica Goodling and the 149 other Falwell Flock wide-eyed believers in the DoJ. Now this; only 38-years-old, little to no experience? We have the least-qualified president likely in the history of the nation (world?), why expect his appointees would be any different?

I usually try not to insult people by using language that I anticipate would be personally offensive to them, that they would feel demeaning. But this slash and burn strategy that is now in use, characterizing the selection of a Halloween costume as grounds for draconian retribution against the light-hearted designation because black people "rightfully" view themselves as associated with criminality, is just too much.

Non-blacks should not walk on eggshells to avoid offending blacks, and should not participate in meting out such stern, or even any "punishment" for what should not be regarded as offensive.

The old-time American remedy used to be "Get a thicker skin."

However you entirely missed the point of Johnsons post, or chose to ignore it and went after one thing that you could use to belittle him. You know damn well that was not what he was trying to say and frankly I have gotten fed up with your stupid games.

"rightfully" does not mean "right". The percentage of whites busted for cocaine versus blacks for crack and the amount of drug in possession is inverse and disproportional. Thus blacks are incarcerated more often and for longer than whites. It's a statistical fact known for so long that one can only assume from your posts that you are a massive bigot. Probably literally as well as figuratively. Go figure.

Weed too don't forget weed is as much a suburban white drug as it is an inner city one.

Then there are things like ecstasy and ketamine that are significantly more skewed to young whites than blacks and yet are almost never prosecuted. Looking at drug usage statistics vs. drug arrest statistics is very telling in how this country deliberatly prosecutes minoritys vs. whites (are whites still the majority)

Of course in my book drug laws are all pretty much a crock anyway, but thats a different issue.

Although there can be an association made between blacks (or hispanics for that matter) and the culture of crime, to state that ALL blacks emulate gangsterism and revel in the world of crime is a dangerously broad and sweeping accusation that does not represent the reality of the majority of blacks in america, not does it help to change the social dynamic. Many things do have to change to make the shift happen, but to tacitely admit to and actively promote a stereotype is beneath contempt and signals latent racist tendencies.
