what is it with criminals and presidential campeigns
i mean what does a guy like Hsu or this guy really expect to get from all of this?

If the guy's kept his nose clean since his troubled days, I say no biggie.

Republican presidential candidate Fred D. Thompson has been crisscrossing the country since early this summer on a private jet lent to him by a businessman and close adviser who has a criminal record for drug dealing.

Who cares. As long as the jet Thompson is flying in doesn't have a bunch of coke stored in its cargo hold -- no big deal.

And Clinton's husband will screw anything that squats to pee. What is the big deal.

Clinton deflection...Didn't take long.

You bozos really have nothing left, do you?

It is OK to say anything about a republican but don't say anything bad about a democrat. Are you libs two-faced or what? What I said was the truth and everyone knows it.

"You bozos really have nothing left, do you?"

They really don't Alex.

And
they're awfully sensitive about it as well!

Poor things.

"Are you libs two-faced or what?"

This falls into the "or what" category.

I'm glad you libs think it's OK to call republicans anything you want to. You thrive on attacks, not ideas. Hans, you are my favorite.

Wow I haven't seen that enough times. Please keep using it - it's so fresh!

MrFair,

NG3 is so obsessed with republicans that it is obvious that he is the same as a gay evangelical preacher ranting on and on about homosexuality when in reality he likes to suck dick.

A good number of folks think drugs should be legal anyway.

Besides, this was 20+ years ago.

"Wow I haven't seen that enough times. Please keep using it - it's so fresh!"

Of course it is "fresh."

That's compliments of the seemingly regular-as-clockwork revelations of the latest examples of Republican hypocrisy.

Yep, gotta love those Republican family "values."

My apologies to Jerry Garcia 'cause I made a few chnages to some of the words in his following song --

CASEY JONES

Flying that plane, high on cocaine,
Casey jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.

This old plane makes it on time,
Leaves the airport 'bout a quarter to nine,
Hits river junction at seventeen to,
At a quarter to ten you know it's airborne again.

Flying that plane, high on cocaine,
Casey jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.

Trouble ahead, lady in red,
Take my advice youd be better off dead.
Air controller's sleeping, plane hundred and two is
On the wrong runway and headed for you.

Flying that plane, high on cocaine,
Casey jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.

Trouble with you is the trouble with me,
Got two good eyes but you still dont see.
Come round the bend, you know its the end,
The pilot just screams and the engine just gleams.

Flying that plane, high on cocaine,
Casey jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind

And you know that notion just crossed my mind

Trees: The Right and reality are mutually exclusive.
Currently they're running on nothing-the three items they used to run on-military preparedness, fiscal ability and morality- have all been shown to be beyond their ability, so they're down to Rudy being prepared to protect us from the green men while spending more time at the WTC than anybody, or Mitt being for and against abortion while being against and for gay rights. McCain is all about the great bargains at the friendly Baghdad markets and how the religious right is the best worst thing for American democracy and Fred is strongly in support of less work and more dessert.

sorry about the all bold print in my 9:12 p.m post - should have only been the title in bold

I can not believe I am defending Eberly but I is. Tree's where in Eberly's Post does He state that what He is saying is an Undisputable Fact or That's a Fact. What is obvious to Me may not be what is Obvious to You. Our Perceptions on observations can be diametrically opposite and still be true to us.

Larry Mohr

Larry,

What part of "it is obvious that he is the same as a gay evangelical preacher" is open to intrepretation?

Eberly asserted that NG3 was the same as a Gay evangelical preacher. Same means identical to what has been or is about to be mentioned. How is this unclear?

Eberly asserted it as an undisputed fact by claiming that NG3 was the same as.

I was making an analogy. If you can't see that then you shouldn't engage people with posts like that.

Thanks Larry.

Oh fuck.....I am laughing my ass off.

This is as much fun when Moneywar/Crassus couldn't add to 100 one night and continued insulting everyone at the same time.

Trees: I'm definitely insulted by Eberly's insinuations that I'm an evangelical. That's about as low as you can get without actually joining the GOP!

As for the gay part, I think he's just leading up to an invite to his favorite public toilet. I understand he's rented several Fred Astaire videos to brush up on his tap dancing abilities and bought a new set of knee pads.

Analogy: A comparison of two different things that are alike in some way (see metaphor and simile). An analogy attributed to Samuel Johnson is: "Dictionaries are like watches; the worst is better than none, and the best cannot be expected to go quite true."

When writing an analogy, one uses terminology that expresses similiarities and yet allows for differences.

What you wrote, upon literal intrepreatation, was not an analogy as you failed to allow for any difference between NG3 and a Gay Evangelical Priest. You declared them to be one in the same by your use of the phrasing "the same as".

If you're going to use an advanced literary expression like an analogy (which most primary schoolers can do with ease) at least try to do it in the correct manner.

Poor NG,

I wasn't calling you gay nor an evangelical.

I was doing much worse......I called you a closet republican.

My original post...

NG3 is so obsessed with republicans that it is obvious that he is the same as a gay evangelical preacher ranting on and on about homosexuality when in reality he likes to suck dick.

You and Trees should go back to high school and apologize to your English teacher for not paying attention.

You screwed up the execution of your analogy, and we're the ones who have to go back to school?

Eberly never met a fact he didn't make up first.

An analogy attributed to Samuel Johnson is: "Dictionaries are like watches; the worst is better than none, and the best cannot be expected to go quite true."

And the watch says......I am insulted because you called me a dictionary.

-Treesgonewild & Northguy3 (the co-insulted)

You screwed up the execution of your analogy

Hardly, and everybody else here knows it. If you weren't such a partisian hack you might see it.

Hey Eberly, I can't compete on the timeless front with righties like Sniper. This from a posting that had nothing to do with either sex or Democrats:

Declaring a person identical to what you had just mentioned or were about to mention is not an analogy. You screwed it up, were called on it and are backpeddling like mad.

Give it up.

And please, provide factual evidence that I am a partisan hack...or is that another fact you just made up?

Thanks for making original point that you are so very very very obsessed with republicans in such a hostile way (MUCH LIKE AN EVANGELICAL CLOSET GAY)

And please, provide factual evidence that I am a partisan hack...

You choice to drag this out into semantics (quite predictable) is total proof.

You screwed it up, were called on it and are backpeddling like mad.

Give it up.

Perhaps you are right Trees. I didn't go slow enough and used complicated words.

My bad.

Trees you missed the thing Eb is best at and that is diverting a thread that he doesn't want paid atention to.

Your semantical games managed to do that much better than he ever could have on his own.

I knew what he was saying and most people reading it did as well.

BTW: Who the hell cares if Thompson has a backer that used to sell drugs? Most people I know did at one point in their life try their hand at the dealer game, most only did it to get their drugs for free or cheap, some did it as a life style, none of them ever got to the level of buing a private jet. So guy was a good enough buisness man to be wildly successful good on him.

As to why so many criminals back politicians how else can they gaurantee the government keeping their buisness illegal for better profits while at the same time getting favors that will come in handy should they ever screw up and actualy get caught.

Trees you missed the thing Eb is best at and that is diverting a thread that he doesn't want paid atention to.

It wasn't my intention to divert a thread. However, it hasn't anything to do with Thompson. It has to do with NG's obsession with republicans.

Your semantical games managed to do that much better than he ever could have on his own.

I knew what he was saying and most people reading it did as well.

Tao, they do this all the time. It wasn't even about the semantics, it's about allegations that are completely bereft of fact.

Analogy or not, there is no factual basis for Eberly's statement. The fact that Eberly made a declarative statement and thought it was an analogy not only illustrates a basic ignorance of simple grammatical tools, it illustrates why Eberly is, in most instances, incapable of making a reasoned argument.

So, Eberly and others simply toss out these outrageous statements and then whine when people react badly. It just doesn't wash with me right now.

And I'm still waiting for proof that I'm a partisan hack.

The fact that Eberly made a declarative statement and thought it was an analogy

wrong. It was an analogy. Again, next time I promise to use smaller words.

I don't want to deflect the thread. Trees can do whatever he wants.

WRONG! You declared that NG3 was "the same as" not like, not similiar too, you said "the same as" that is a declarative statement. You thought you were making an analogy, but you were wrong.

If I put on my sunglasses and squint really hard, I can maybe see an allegorical beginning but you blew it even with that.

Furthermore, if you didn't want to derail the thread, why do you keep arguing with me? Do you absolutely have to have the last word?

Lemme give you a hint, you screwed it up, no matter how you argue it, you screwed it up.

Still waiting for proof that I'm a partisan hack. You want to make the declaration, you'd better be able to back it up. There's a whole posting history there to help you. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Oh and while you're at it, prove that I'm a man too.

Oh and while you're at it, prove that I'm a man too.

I'm interested in proving thing that are true.

As far as you being a partisian hack........I take it back. You are just a pussy. Do I have to prove that?

It was a great analogy. Again, English teacher......apologize........

I'm interested in proving thing that are true.

So you readily admit that you say things that are un-true and this is why you will not support those allegations, because they are infact willful lies.

So how can we ever take what you have to say at face value?

You are just a pussy. Do I have to prove that?

Yes, actually you do.

pussy

1. Nice name for a cat
2. Slang for women's genitals
3. Cowardly

You can easily prove that I have a pussy, but it will be more of a challenge to prove that I am one. I am quite obviously not a cat, so that leaves cowardly.

Again, go ahead. Show me where I have ever run from a confrontation with my tail between my legs. I'm here till midnight.

NP Larry, I'll get to it when I get home.

Trees,

You are so sensitive. This will be my explaination. I promise to use simple words.

I called you a partisian hack because you take up for NG3 (who obviously can't stand up for himself) when I point out that he is obsessed with republicans all of the time. He hardly ever makes another point.

You either took up for him when he has no defense because you are just like him or you misread my analogy. At this point, I don't know which one you are. Partisian hack or illiterate. Actually, I'm kidding, I just think you can't stand to lose an argument.

A little of that runs through my blood also.

When someone says something is obvious, it may or may not be obvious to others.

or you misread my analogy. At this point, I don't know which one you are. Partisian hack or illiterate. Actually, I'm kidding, I just think you can't stand to lose an argument.

Eberly,

If you had actually made an analogy or even an allegory I would have picked up on it immediately. You did not, I will give that you thought you had made an analogy but what you wrote wasn't an analogy.

I explained earlier why I jumped all over you. How about next time bringing some facts along for the ride?

Losing a personal insult in lieu of an substantial counter point is asinine. We all do it, but there are people who do nothing else.

I've been a real bitch about this tonight, and I'm not ashamed of it and I am certainly not incorrect in the facts that I've presented. Was it pointless, yeah, to most people I am sure it is.

The whole problem is that we're not demanding honesty from anyone any more. Not our leaders and not each other. I am tired of it.

I am so sick and tired of this polarized bullshit I could just scream. You might call it hypersensitive, and that's fine, what ever makes you comfortable. I call it wanting...wanting us to remember what basic humanity is, wanting us to remember what integrity is and wanting us to remember that the truth has no bias, it just is.

I swear sometimes I feel like we're just one thrown chair away from devolving into a never ending episode of Jerry Springer. Some might think that's fun, but I'm not one of them.

I'm just sick about where we are and what we're doing to each other. I'm angry and I'm frustrated.

Yep, gotta love those Republican family "values."

Maybe he did business with all the drug dealers that Clinton Pardoned?

I wonder if there are photos of him with Thompson just like the one of Clinton and Jorge Cabrera.

Read:

MIAMI -- Jorge Cabrera, a drug smuggler who has emerged as
one of the most notorious supporters of President Clinton's
re-election campaign, was asked for a campaign contribution in
the unlikely locale of a hotel in Havana by a prominent Democratic
fund-raiser, congressional investigators have learned.

[...]

On his return to the United States several days after that
meeting, in November 1995, Cabrera wrote a check for $20,000 to
the Democratic National Committee from an account that included
the proceeds from smuggling cocaine from Colombia to the
United States, said the investigators, who spoke on condition of
anonymity.

[...]

In early January 1996, three weeks after having attended the
Christmas reception at the White House, Cabrera was arrested
and charged with importing 6,000 pounds of cocaine into the
United States on boats through the Florida Keys. Late last year, e;1H
pleaded guilty to those charges and was sentenced to 19 years in
federal prison and fined $1.5 million.

Losing a personal insult in lieu of an substantial counter point is asinine. We all do it, but there are people who do nothing else.

"substantial" is a matter of opinion. What NG posts isn't substantial nor his political ideology.

As far as the analogy goes.....we aren't going to agree.

You are quite passionate about your beliefs. Discord doesn't bother me one bit.

corporate whores in DC? Yeah, that is a very slippery slope. Politics is big money. No getting around that.

However, I will make this point and then go to bed. You are so sick of "polarized bullshit"? Really, are you? Or are you just sick of one side of it?

NG3 is an extremely polarized poster. He hates republicans more than cancer. All I did was call him such. I don't have a polarized position on anything and I like to think I am a reasonable person with no loyalty to any party.

Are you a partisan hack? Is anybody? Prove it? What is the point of that?

nite all.

However, I will make this point and then go to bed. You are so sick of "polarized bullshit"? Really, are you? Or are you just sick of one side of it?

You know, Eberly, there is a lot of reading what you want to read going around.

We all do it, but there are people who do nothing else.

You quoted the first part of that statement, and yet had to ask if I was sick of just one side of it? Which part of "We all do it" wasn't inclusive?

The point of proving it is to challenge people to back up their words. People so easily write checks with their mouths that they aren't willing to cash, it's easy to get your jollies bashing on another person. It's harder to come to the table with facts.

Did NG3 lie in his post? Were the assertions he made about the company that Romney, Giuliani and Thompson keep factually inacurate?

If so, why not call him on that? Why not argue his point? Why not say it wasn't true and provide sources to counter his claims instead of making the inane argument that he must be a Republican because he really hates Republicans?

Maybe NG3 doesn't hate all Republicans, just the lying hypocritical ones? Did you ever ask him?

It just seems to me that we're all doing this wrong.

I saw excerpts of Fred Thompson's interview on meet the press where Fred discussed his continued support for his friend and campaign contributer who had pleaded guilty to distributing marijuana and cocaine many years ago. Fred was unwavering in his support for his friend indicating that he had "paid his debt to society" and that he was not going to throw his friend "under the bus".

It is unfortunate that Fred's sentiment doesn't prevail for many others in society (especially the poor and minorities) whose distant criminal past seems to forever haunt them.

I was specifically referring to the term you brought up: "family values." I didn't see it in that link. Do you have any others?

Also - does the left have something like a Value Voter? Genuinely curious.

Monte - it was more like a lopsided tag-team match: North punched the guy and then disappeared and let a chick finish the long fight afterward. At least Eberly stuck around to slug it out - plus he had no tag-team partner.

"I was specifically referring to the term you brought up: "family values." I didn't see it in that link. Do you have any others?"

What's that? Values Voter Summit refers to something other than "family values"?

No doubt that would be a surprise to those in attendance.

"does the left have something like a Value Voter?"

Sure. Liberal (left) values such as

protecting the environment, equal opportunity, fiscal responsibility, avoidance of wars of choice, public safety, supporting our troops and our veterans, respecting a woman's right to choose what's right for her, opposing torture in the name of our country, opposing warrantless wiretaps...
Values, like those.

Well, if those were Eberly's "slugs," they were laughable. Plus, Eberly does have a tag-team partner. His name is Vernon, and when they are not on the park bench complaining about them dagnabbit young whippersnappers, they are rolling around on a bed somewhere, looking for eachothers' raisin sacks.

Hans - of course I see the point you are driving at, but I still do not see the two words "family" and "values" side by side anywhere in there. I don't think they are using that specific term any more, maybe because it became such a bullseye. They do mention family, but they have a bunch of other items. I will go and do some research on it because my curiosity is up.

Also, thanks for the list of left/liberal values, but I should have been more specific: what do you think is the left's version of the FRC's Values Voter convention? I'd like to compare their respective "About Us" pages.

Eb's got a point. He's never seen a pussy before, so he might have trouble identifying one. If you said 'you can easily prove that I have a dick,' then he should have no trouble - he's seen tons of those, up close and personal.

Clinton deflection...Didn't take long.

You bozos really have nothing left, do you?

Probably not this particular candidates voting base though...

I would have stuck around to help Trees slap Eberly stupid(er), but I just can't stand to watch a man cry like a baby.
It's funny, Eberly can't understand why anyone would talk politics on a political site.
maybe he just wants to tell us how his sewing classes are going. I remember Niceville turned to muffin recipes when his political talking points were eradicated by reality.

Probably not this particular candidates voting base though...

How many drug dealing backers did Clinton pardon???

Did Roger back Bill??? And, as governor of Arkansas, Bill pardoned drug dealers, TOO!

LOL AT YOU HYPOCRITES!

Sounds like we have another republican coming out of the closet!

.....and professing his interest Clinton to boot.

Damn, you repubs don't just come out of the closet, you kick the door of the hinges and scream it out loud.
