So now they'll only preserve the unnatural?
No wonder Bush wants to retire there.

A weasel preserve?

A weasel preserve?

Perfect place for him-as long as it has a SMALL prison cell for him to spend the rest of his useless life in...

It'll probably end up as an exotic wildlife sport hunting ranch.

(If you call shooting a large animal from 10 feet away in a truck 'sport'.

9000 acres in TX? Thats a mid sized ranch but thats about it. Texas is filthy with land who cares dove past probably 50k undeveloped acres just in the week I was there.

The guy who is willing to buy the preserve says he insists on being able to hunt and carry a gun on the land if it's deeded over to him. Right now federal ownership prevents that from happening. Says he goes nowhere without his gun -- especially into deserted wide open land like this wildlife preserve. Can't say I blame him for not wanting to go there unarmed.

DON'T SELL IT!!! Let the wood pile up and then let it burn like Cal. So long as its NATURAL fire.

i'll take two, please.

Finally a state with some brains...and balls. This is the reverse of imminet domain, which many are against. Taking an asset and selling it for cash. Keeps taxes down, and returns property into the private sector...

If the dipshit dr left could get over their hatred for GW and talk with some intelligence towards the issue at hand, maybe they could ADD something.

"This is the reverse of imminet domain, which many are against."

No doubt there are many against roads, highways and interstate highways, schools, public hospitals, easements to protect property values, public parks, green spaces, and railroads, to name a few items gained through eminent domain.

If the dipshit dr right could get over their stupidity and talk with some intelligence towards the issue at hand, maybe they could ADD something.

Hans, it's Sunday again. Time to brush your teeth.

Vernon (Mr. Spit! Stroke! Repeat!), it's Sunday again. Time to practice your math song:

Add it on, add it on, here is how you do it:
Take and shake the bigger number...Add the smaller number to it.
8+3
Take 8 Shake it... 9,10,11
8+3=11
Add it on, add it on, here is how you do it:
Take and shake the bigger number...Add the smaller number to it.
Hans

Hans is always online.

And whoever you are, he's compiled a snarky post for you. Just waiting for the day that he can quick-fire it back at you.

Then, he'll repost the same response, again and again. Hans never tires of repeating himself.

All day long, in his dank little room, all alone, with 'Law & Order' reruns in the background. Hans waits to pounce on you. All the while singing "10 little bunnies, lying in bed, and the one on the end said, ROLL OVER! ROLL OVER! And they all rolled over and one fell out."

"Get over their hatred for GW...."

It's more like that sick feeling you get when you open that tupperware you forgot sitting in back of your fridge for three months.

It would appear that
Mr. Spit! Stroke! Repeat! is flustered.

Hans

"It's more like that sick feeling you get when you open that tupperware you forgot sitting in back of your fridge for three months."

LOL!

Hans

The Christmas Mountains are in Big Bend, and Big Bend is unique. It's highest use and value is as a park. It was made a gift to us so it could be a park.

If I read this article correctly, the guy that wants to sell them does so because he feels he doesn't have a dick and must carry a gun everwhere he goes.

"If the dipshit dr left could get over their hatred for GW ..."

The "left"? Some people apparently did not get the memo:

One year out from the 2008 election, Americans are deeply pessimistic and eager for a change in direction from the agenda and priorities of President Bush, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. Concern about the economy, the war in Iraq and growing dissatisfaction with the political environment in Washington all contribute to the lowest public assessment of the direction of the country in more than a decade.
Hans

I'm curious. If I didn't "hate" Bush, would he be a better man or president?

Sell it all. And if the so-called conservationists were that uptight about it, there's nothing preventing them from submitting bids. Maybe instead of raising money to give to this candidate or that one, they can buy some land in Texas.

If I read this article correctly, the guy that wants to sell them does so because he feels he doesn't have a dick and must carry a gun everwhere he goes.

I love comments like this....I used to know several people who felt this way...But rest assured they changed their minds the first time they were in a situation where their lives were threatened by man or beast...A gun is a good thing to have....chances are if you do carry you'll never have to use it...

Also, felony or not I ALWAYS carry 2 handguns when backpacking in any national park. One for me and one for the wife...Even though rare I'd like to have one when a bear comes through my tent.. Also, when you're ten miles in the backcountry and the trailhead was 5 miles up a 4wd drive road that was 3 miles from a chert road that was 2 miles from pavement and 6 miles to the nearest anything
having a gun is just insurnace, big dick or not... I guess maybe when faced with a threat you could put that big ole dick in your mouth and have your last moments spent in orgasm....you dumbass.....

RIR,

You mean like my dad and the 100 acres he bought in vermont to remain wilderness? Man I used to love going camping up there. Then the gov. came and ran a highway right through the middle, well not quite 35 acres on one side and 55 on the other, with 10 given up. Not so good for camping anymore but it did about double the value of the land. Only thing is it wasn't bought as an investment but as a private perserve.

Thats the problem with private ownership of a preserve the gov is free to take it and fuck it up for you.

Well I don't mean to be snarky, but with the extra money it sounds like he could have bought 200 acres for a private reserve.

RIR,

Maybe but we like the spot. It's friggen gourgeous. Also he has ALS now so doubt he'll be going to any reserve any time soon. He went to Africa last year and that was probably his last trip away from home.

When I inherit maybe I will sell and buy another spot, actualy I'm in NC now so probably would sell and buy something up in the NC mountains, lots of beautiful land there, but can't use the excuse of visiting the land to go skiing in NC (well we can but skiing sucks here)

So why don't the animal lovers and gun haters buy it? What the hell is the problem? They always seem to have a pile of money when it comes to TV adds and buying congressmen.

Well the lesson is not to donate any land to Texas because they'll turn around and look to make buck off of it.

You have land in Texas you don't want and you are feeling charitable? Sell the land and give the money to charity.

"So why don't the animal lovers and gun haters buy it...."

I think you miss the point entirely. This land was paid for. Texas got it as a gift.

The Right began to fade as a serious political movement as soon as they began failing to recognize low-class behavior.

"A gun is a good thing to have...."

Maybe so. Doesn't mean some don't confuse it with their dicks.

You have land in Texas you don't want and you are feeling charitable? Sell the land and give the money to charity.

I'm sure Danforth or RIR will correct me if I'm wrong but selling the land versus donating the land changes the tax picture. It is more advantageous financially to donate the land outright........I think.

Otherwise, like you said, everyone would sell the land first and donate the money.

"It is more advantageous financially to donate the land outright........I think."

You're right. Selling it increases one's AGI, which makes medical expenses and employee business expenses less valuable. An additional profit of, say, $100,000 would negate $7500 in deductible medical expenses and $2000 in employee expense deductions. In the 30% braket, that's a difference of about $2850.

Thanks for the spelling correction Hnas!

I guess you have every present that was ever given to you. What is your point or problem?

Texas made some money by selling some land or there is no longer a game preserve for the little bunnies to frolick around in?

I also don't understand what shooting some game animals has to do with his dick. If he was insure about his dick he would act more like BJ Willie and less like an outdoor sportsman.

Well, call me stupid if you like. But I'd rather have the hundred thousand.

"I'd rather have the hundred thousand."

Me, too. But that wasn't the question.

"But I'd rather have the hundred thousand."

Depends.

I've seen some charitable situations which, when combined with state incentives, brought back 102.3% on the donation.

Sniper:" If he was insure about his dick he would act more like BJ Willie and less like an outdoor sportsman."

Ahh, the old Clinton got a blow job. It's timeless, right Eberly?

I think Sniper is like that gay evangelical preacher Eberly used to date who was so obsessed with Bill's dick that he talked about it all the time to cover the fact he secretly lusted after Hillary.
Sniper, you want her, don't you? Wanting to get into her pants
suit.

Sitting on the can, moaning " I'm coming Madame President, I'm serving at your pleasure...."

Those who are approving this in the TX govt are surely going to see envelopes of cash.....or they already have.

Hmmmmm....more of that repressed 'gayness' coming to light from the right.

You go girl!

The gift deed from the Conservation Fund required the fund's approval before conveying the property to any party other than the federal or state parks agencies. Mr. Patterson has said the provision is not enforceable.

I guess we will eventually see whether or not it is enforceable. It would seem to me that if the deed restriction did not violate any federal/state law, then it should be enforceable otherwise, other deed restrictions are going to be challenged.

There are some things that should never be privatized, parks, roads, water supplies, gas and electric power distribution are among them.

Who remembers all the lies about how deregulation of electricity would lead to lower prices? Instead all we've seen is higher prices and lower reliability. If the list were longer we would not have had the S&L collapses, or the current collapse of the dolalr or credit crunch. The economy would be more stable and prices would be lower with more Keynsian based regulation.

As Naomi Klein demonstrates, the Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman and his mentor Hayek are full of shit. Their policies have only been implemented under the cover of Dictatorship, War and Torture while lauding Individual Freedom and Free Markets. Hayek was Margarette Thatchers idol.

How have a gang of NeoCon thugs succeeded in saying black is white for so long? Their policies have always lead to massive profits for the big fish (Corporations) accompanied by death, starvation and/or lower standards of living for the general population.
