Rogers Cadenhead Through a variety of sources, including a former employee of the VOTER NEWS SERVICE and the embittered college girlfriend of JEFF GREENFIELD, the DRUDGE RETORT has acquired a sampling of exit polls from Tuesday's presidential election. The polls available to the DRUDGE RETORT include 492 voters, 470 in Waltham, Massachusetts, and another 42 who voted absentee in West Hollywood, Calif. MORE Though many experts are predicting that exit polls may be unreliable in a race projected to be as close as this one, some of the same experts advised FOX NEWS analyst Ann Coulter to ditch the eyepatch in 1998. [Without the distinctive patch, Coulter became indistinguishable from Laura Ingraham, Kellyanne Fitzpatrick and Barbara Olson.] IMPACTING HARD The results show a clear winner in today's presidential race: 1. Who did you vote for in the presidential race? Al Gore/Joe Lieberman (Dem.): 310 (66.2 %) MORE Longtime Beltway insiders were stunned at the 30 percent margin of victory for Gore/Lieberman, the largest in a presidential race since Franklin D. Roosevelt defeated Dwight Eisenhower in 1944. "I told myself I wasn't going to cry," Jim Robinson, founder of the online conservative coffee klatsch FREE REPUBLIC told the RETORT Thursday afternoon at 2:48 P.M. Eastern. "There are still 12 minutes before polls close in California, so I'm holding onto a gossamer-thin filament of hope." DEVELOPING The RETORT moves when circumstances warrant © DRUDGE RETORT 2000 |
